Detroit will say no to that for the following reasons.
1. Detroit already have 9 waiver eligible wingers penned in for next year + Raymond and Berggren.
2. That means that Neal is not especially useful as a player to Detroit, either him or another player would have to be waived and sent to Grand Rapids.
3. That also means that Marody, who is also eligible for waivers, actually lowers the value of the deal, not raise it.
4. Lagesson is not a very good fit in Detroit. We need LD but there are better options to be had. (Vince Dunn via trade, Gardiner or Gostisbehere on cap dump deals, FA signings).
If you want Detroit to accept Neal for two years of cap dump you will either have to offer high picks (two 1st round picks) or two top prospects that are exempt from waivers (Lavoie + Holloway).
If you think that's too high a price to pay, then Detroit is happy to let you keep Neal.
