I have to make this perfectly clear, AS I SAID MULTIPLE TIMES NOW THE OILERS DECLINE THIS TRADE
now that that’s out of the way, don’t be fooled by what gm’s say. We weren’t moving Subban and within the week he was dealt. We weren’t moving Sergachev and what do you know, he’s gone.
And the Habs were openly shopping Subban he was part of the Hall trade before Edmonton went another direction as Subbans cap hit was to big with McDavid and Draisaitl needing long term deals.
We seem to have different opinions on the term available, you state he’s unavailable unless there’s a blockbuster. That would mean available. Now yes he’s a good prospect and would need to be included in a trade for a star player, but that would mean he’s available. A reasonable star going the other way you’d have to be willing to move him.
I’m still trying to figure out how good you think he’s going to be? 50 points? 60? 70? 80? 90? 100?
Holland went into great detail in his presser into why he’s not looking at making a blockbuster or trading away Edmonton’s current top prospects, long in short of it is Edmonton doesn’t currently have the depth at the nhl or in its farm system to be moving prospects or top picks at the current time when he felt like Edmonton was in a position to do that he would, that the current group of top prospects would need to provide some of the needed depth given the flat cap and the rest would come via free agency, so to be clear that’s why a prospect like Holloway I’m saying is unavailable at this time.
I don’t see Holloway starting the yr in Edmonton but could easily be in the lineup before yrs end could provide a spark like Yamamoto did a season ago or provide a similar boast to the offence as Caufield has for the habs
Just to be clear I wasn’t saying anything about your assessment of the trade, the point was if something did come along that would get holland to move any top prospect this trade wouldn’t even come close.
