Not convinced either does this. Isles would say yes first though I guess.

We already have Holl and they can probably find another cheap defenceman in free agency so the need for Mayfeild isn't really there. Campbell played well both in the regular season and playoffs, he will be the 1A next year and they probably target someone like Dreiger or Ullmark in free agency

Yeah it’s highly unlikely. You almost never see contenders swap starters. Most trades these days are futures for a player or two to maximize return.

That's a really bad trade for Toronto - Mayfield has been solid during the playoffs, but he's still a #5 D at best. Teams usually don't trade young top 6 wingers for goaltenders...

Mayfield >> Holl. And that’s fine if the Leafs are sold on Campbell. I just think the Leafs are better off with a proven goalie while the window is still open.

Mayfield is definitely a top 4 guy and on that contract he has immense value especially for a defense hungry, capped strapped team.

Also Andy Greene has arguably been the isles worst defenseman in the playoffs. I don't even think he's worthy of being a 7D next season.

LOL get outta here. Not even thought about by Toronto.

You're offering an aging goaltender, who's basically an average goalie outside of the defensive system in New York, and a a 3rd pair defenceman that doesn't even crack Toronto's lineup for a young star, winger with elite upside and on a great contract. Not even close. Doesn't matter about Mayfield's good playoff play, or Varlamov's numbers. Again they're both helped but a highly defensive system on New York.

Toronto doesn't need Mayfield who would fight with Bogosian for 3rd pair minutes, and Bogosian is free and doesn't cost any players to get. & Leafs are already comfortable going with Campbell as their #1 do they likely sign a backup or trade for one that can develop into a starter in a few seasons when Campbell starts to age. But it'll likely be a younger guy that has some experience to be able to push Campbell (I like Adin Hill for that spot personally).

But hey, after your offer maybe Toronto counters with Alex Kerfoot and Justin Holl for Anthony Beauvillier. Would you accept?

Holl and Mayfield are about equal. I think you're overrating mayfield based on the last 12 games. Campbell was great in the playoffs, the leafs top players couldn't score.

That’s a joke right? Greene has been a beast in the PO and solid during the regular season. You really need to reevaluate how you view defenseman and that’s with my blue and orange glasses off.

Exactly my point. My counter offer was similar to your offer. No offence, but your offer is terrible.

A beast lol -we can do this anyway you want - counting stats, advanced stats, eye test. He's also brutal on the PK, I guess you missed his failed clear that led to a PP goal last game.

Isles fans continue to overrate any defenseman over 30 with "intangibles". Greene is trash.

I am definitely overrating Greene. But to say he is not a serviceable 7th defenseman is asinine. Also Mayfield is a #2 RHD on more than half the teams in the league.

Next season they should not pencil Greene in as a starter but he would be a great veteran 7th option for what his salary will be.

There are plenty of better 7D in free agency that could be had for under 1 mill. Hickey is even better than Greene. The issue with Greene is he can't skate and he looks gassed by the end of games, he's old as sh*t, so it makes sense. Mayfield would not be a #2RD on more than half the teams, that is ridiculous. If Mayfield didn't play in the isles system he would get exposed.

if the isles don't give Salo or Bolduc the six spot next year then I have lost faith with the management and this farm sys.

... you're making my point even more. Nylander is worth more than Beauvillier and you think trading Varlamov and Mayfield is worth that?

Toronto doesn't need an aging goaltender and they don't need a bottom pair defenceman. How is that any piece of value to them for one of the most dynamic offensive players in the game today? It makes literally no sense.

My point of offering Kerfoot and Holl for Beauviller was to show that the Islanders would be sending the better player in return for 2 players that they clearly don't need. Which is the exact same situation when asking for Nylander for Varlamov and Mayfield.

Don't hold onto **** form a week ago. Let it go kid. No need to keep bringing it back up.
