I understand that the idea is a joke.
But so are the trades.
Toronto shouldn’t do the Tampa one.
And none of the other teams would do the other ones.
(maybe Pittsburgh depending on how their doing, but that’s a lot to give up from Toronto considering the shortage of draft picks)
The trades are actually the only thing that are reasonable here:
Tampa trade - actually an overpay by Toronto because of Tampa's cap issues. But there's likely a lot of teams willing to help Tampa because they're still good players that are being traded and Liljgren is taking awhile to make the NHL so you never know with him. Slight overpay by Toronto but will take that to beat out the other teams offers.
Vegas trade - would make 100% sense in the off-season actually. Vegas is in cap hell and need to move someone. Smith is a good bet to go, it's an overpay by Toronto because of Vegas' situation, but Smith is still a good 200ft player so it's not terrible.
Pittsburgh trade - really depends where the Pens are at on deadline day. Would have to be a better player or prospect than Hutchinson but makes sense to move Letang so it's not horrible.
Colorado trade - again depends where the Avs are on deadline day. If they're out of it, then that's good value for a middle 6 forward. Can't see them being out of it but the value would be fine then
