Sabres decline, not enough

Newhook is probably a top 10 forward spec in the league - he's slept on despite being in the same tier as Zegras, Turcotte, Dach and alike. I feel like a quality add does more than a quantity add, but most people probably just don't think Newhooks any good because he's never talked about.

That 1-2 combo would be Crosby/Malkin esc! I think it would cost more though. Newhook is a solid prospect but I would think for that package there would have to be another 1st and probably one of Jost or Timmins going back, or just add Byram.

I thought about basing it off of byram because i think he has probability to bust.... but we are talking Sakic here - man never gets fleeced and usually does the fleecing. I think basing it on Newhook does a decent chunk of the value.

Newhook is definitely a solid piece, and a piece im sure Buffalo would be interested in, but I think the cost for a player of Eichel's caliber is going to be massive, assuming he is medically cleared of course.

Your absolutely right about Sakic. He has done a masterful job assembling his team, and as a result COL is probably one of the few teams that could actually afford the cost of young talent while maintaining/improving a top contender for years to come.

Except he doesn’t. Before the injury Byram was cementing himself in the top 4 of a cup contender, with high end defensive metrics. I know you have never been a fan but he isn’t going to be a bust.
