Eichel is going to likely miss time with his new team because he's going to want surgery on his neck when he gets there. You're not going to be able to pull a trade like this for the 2C of a contender when there's a chance Eichel will miss considerable time.

How is a point per game player with a contract under 5 mil a rental? Either way that is more than the canes are going to give up. Take out Jarvis add in a 2nd rounder and id say its fair. Eichel is a great player but he has the neck injury and a 10 mil cap hit is tough to take on

Calling him a cap dump in any context is wrong. He was on pace for 60-70 points in an 82 game season. He is NO context is a cap dump. He is a piece with good value, even with limited time remaining, because extending him isn't illegal!
