Explications
Not sure on the value of the deal, but I think it addresses both of the canes needs assuming Hamilton walks. Let me know any changes needed for trade value

I don't hate it but I personally am not that big a fan of Jones long-term and for how much Canes are giving up in this deal gotta think an extension is in play here. Also not sure how Laine fits in Carolina, I've always liked his game but I could see that as a risky move and I just don't think it's worth potentially blowing up the team and mortgaging the future. Canes aren't that far off - I'd rather see them move on from some guys (keep McGinn and move Foegs, Marty, Pacquette) and then if they don't re-sign Dougie use that money to grab 1-2 of Barrie & Oleksiak / Savard / etc.

No way Columbus goes for that. That package MIGHT get one but not both.

    Might get one, seriously?

This package should get both, but I don't want both. Jones leaves in UFA like Dougie. I'm okay with Laine, but for this cost, it's a risk that I don't want us to take.

The assumption would be that jones comes with an extension

Throw in Dougle's UFA rights and that could work. wink

(No, that's not actually strictly necessary. I think the deal probably works as is.)

I mean that would be no issue, this is assuming dougie is gone. Its really just a matter of whether the canes are willing to start mortgaging the future to win

Seriously over-estimating the market on Jones. He took all leverage from FO. This is a great deal for CBJ and speeds up the needed rebuild immensely. From a Carolina perspective I wouldn't do this though.
