You're probably not all that far off in value, but a fourth has limited appeal unless there's a fairly clear sense that Kulak would have to go through waivers. Indeed, I'd prefer to offer up Kulak and a 4th in 2021 for a 2nd in 2024, which should be a relatively late one if the Rangers keep improving like they should.

Kulak is still just rounding into form. Gustafsson and Merrill are mature players, so there's a difference in expectations.

The knock on Kulak is 100% his inconsistency. He has 3 solid games and then he makes a series of dumb moves. Eventually, that undermines a coach's confidence, so they drop him in and out of the lineup. When he's playing well and within his competencies, he's a very solid 3-6 Dman.

Kotkaniemi Caufield were scratched at the beginning of the playoffs, not because the players over them are better, just because Ducharme is the worse NHL coach who ever coached at the NHL level. Yup, they're going to keep him. That said, I disagree with your worst-coach-ever claim. I actually think holding KK and Caufield out took away a lot of pressure on them so that when they did get slotted in, they were able to play and have fun without feeling they were carrying the team's fortunes.

players get scratched all the damn time. if he was a locker room issue or if the coach didn't like him, he would be gone. a lot of teams would have taken him for a late pick. according to YOU, a no body, you think kulak played well. so when he gets scratched, YOU a NOBODY thinks that oh it must be that he has an issue with the coach. thats complete bs and you know it. "fans" like you are the reason FA's don't want to come to mtl.

I don't want Kulak gone, I like him but maybe he will be better appreciated with you guys. I don't know what MTL's issue is or how Merril,Gus or Mete ever played over him. He has been our most solid bottom paid D, He turned it up in the playoffs last year and has stepped up again this year but still no love.
