If hamilton goes to FA

    They will have plenty of options on par with Skjei. Few on par with Hamilton.

    Why would they select him as a UFA when there’s so many other good players to choose from?

    this is situational in that Carolina moves on from him in the re-signing days which are after the expansion draft so Seattle would talk to Hamilton but they wouldn't be confident enough to take him

    Seattle would negotiate the deal before the expansion draft.

    If they talk to him before expansion and agree to contract, that becomes their expansion selection.

    They miss out on selecting Skjei. Don’t see any selections being used on UFAs.
