I cant really blame Sakic though, everyone knew this was coming with Landeskog and Makar up for new contracts + the expansion draft in the same offseason. They were bound to lose a few depth players and now they have to rely on ELC players like Newhook and Byram to take on that extra load. I still think Sakic did a good job of keeping together as many guys as possible and also signing some good value contracts

I don’t think they had Yandle at that time. My point was more that Philly never needed a top 4 LD because they have two young ones, and a top LD prospect for the future. So Lindell would not have been of interest to them at any point.
