If you really want to play power right away

Description
Power looks great with Stetcher at the worlds so keep them together. Detroit gets their truly great 1C. And they have so many prospect to move to get it done.

I know this isn’t perfect, it’s just an idea.

Stetcher is the only “now piece” in this deal but even then his fit with Power is great. Raymond and Veleno are the cornerstone prospects in this deal. Bednar is a decent goalie prospect and Mastrosimone has looked good at BU so far.

I don’t disagree. But it seems almost like a shoe-in at this point. What I’m just showing is a possible way to maximize power while also getting tons of value out of an Eichel trade.

If Ristolainen is still on the team they need to have power go back to Michigan.

I disagree with that, Power would be an excellent choice for the Sabres. Absolutely nothing wrong with having an elite d-core

Why? It’s Jack Eichel and I don’t see any untouchable pieces in this deal. They kept Seider, Zadina, the 6th pick and their first next year.

I dont think its a shoe in and if Kevyn Adams is peer pressured into drafting a prospct they dont need by hockey media, then he shouldnt be a gm

They already have great d prospects and Dahlin and probably retain McCabe for a while. D prospects also have little market value, so they cant even flip the ones theyve already invested in

Detroit is in a rebuild, they want to add players and picks not trade them away.
You're asking Detroit to give up nine (9!) assets and only want to give one back?

Raymond and Veleno together will put up more points than Eichel does, already there this deal is a dud.

You have to consider the needs of both teams in a trade not just your own wishes

The team trading for Eichel should be one on the upswing. Much as the narrative is that Detroit is exactly that, we aren't and shouldnt be. The team improved slightly on the historically bad season, but they looked better thanks to their division, and need 1-2 further years of drafting high before we think about coming out and making ambitious moves like this.
Similarly, I don't think Buffalo should do this, as they need to gain at least 2 premier pieces for trading away Jack Eichel, and as a Wings fan the only piece at that level is Raymond.

Veleno is 3 years removed from his draft and was not even a 1/2 point per game in the ahl or she to this point. He projects at this point to probably a 30-40 point player at best if he even ends up being an nhl regular. Even Rasmussen produced more than that and we can see how that has gone so far. Raymond still looks like a very promising prospect, but he is still very much a projection. Even if Raymond ends up being a point per game nhl player that is likely 3 to 4 seasons away. In the meantime Eichel will well outpace the production of those two players while also raising that of the players around him

Opportunities to acquire a 24 year old center who already has multiple seasons over 80 point paces do not come by often. He’s the surest of sure things on the trade market and instantly raises the floor and ceiling of this organization moving forward. You could say “he didn’t do that with the Sabres” but the Red Wings actually have good prospects and young players like Vrana, Larkin, Zadina, Seider and Hronek who are already good right now. Nobody else the red wings have comes close to the ceiling of Eichel, unless you wanna suck these next two years and pray for Wright or Bedard. And besides, that’s still a possibility as you don’t trade your 2022 or 2023 first round pick.

On another note, what the Sabres truly lack in their organization is any level of prospect depth. The Sabres aren’t getting anything close to a player of Eichels potential in this deal, (even though I do like Raymond but he isn’t that level) but that’s why the deal is 9 pieces. To improve the depth of their prospect pool on top of a few high end prospect options. The Wings have boatloads of prospects and picks, this doesn’t even put a dent in their system while also guaranteeing elite 1C play for the next 10 years.

Look you've been told, by several posters, that this is a no deal, bordering on delusional, why don't you just accept it?

Detroit is in a rebuild! It is not trading away their prospects! Detroit wants more prospects not less!

You're asking Detroit to give up 5 players and 4 picks when they are desperately short of prospects as it is and only get 1 player back. And a player that will score less than half of what those 5 prospects will score together. NO, NEIN, NE, NEJ, NJET,

This is a delusional offer!

Detroit is in a rebuild!

Detroit is NOT giving up 5 players to get 1.

Not even uf his name is Gretsky do they do that deal!

Detroit wants more prospects not to give up the few they have.

Why is that so hard to understand?

Giving up prospects and picks is something a contending team will do, never a rebuilding team.

That’s not how this works, the Wings are in the process of exiting a rebuild as seen by their improvement over the last season, the bad contracts that are expiring and the infusion of talent coming to the team next year with prospect graduations. I can’t for the life of me understand why you think a team about to exit a rebuild that already has a loaded prospect pool as well as massive quantity AND quality of draft picks is not in a situation to make a deal for a young elite player.

If you don’t understand that there are levels to a rebuild, you’re just wrong. Obviously Eichel doesn’t make sense for a team on the decline or a team at the bottom of their rebuild. But the Wings aren’t bottoming out, they’re heading to the upswing

I can agree this would not be a good move for either team. As you mentioned Detroit still would have alot of work to do to ensure Eichel would be any happier than he would be in Buffalo. And for the Sabres this is more quantity over quality. They should be looking for a deal with fewer more high end pieces. I was simply commenting on your overvaluing of the prospects in the deal you referenced
