If Makar is signing for under 7M AAV, it’s because he took a 1 year deal to help the team save money. He’s not signing a contract that is both discounted AND long term.

People assume Mackinnon took a massive pay cut. His production was not great when he signed it. He took off after signing it

Makar will definitely will make more than that no question

And Florida has Bob+Knight. They don't need a goalie

Thank god someone gets it. MacKinnon was not that great in his second and third season and he didn’t hit even the 70 point threshold until his 5th year in the league. The contract wasn’t him being nice, he simply didn’t deserve more at the time.
