Mikheyev is a rental. Terry is three years younger, under team control for at least three more years than Mikheyev, cheaper, and scored more points than Mikheyev in 11% fewer games while playing on a much worse team. Terry is one of two NHL-experienced RWs on our team while Mikheyev would be one of SEVEN LWs on the Ducks.

I don't think that we would be interested in Mikheyev if the ask was for a sixth-round draft pick in 2022.

Hutchinson and Malgin in NHL trades? Why would Arizona trade 3 NHLers for one year of Reilly?

You think Terry is still available? There were legitimate reports leading up to the deadline that he was either being shopped or wanted a trade.

I don't think that he's being shopped. We're just too thin at RW. I don't think either Perreault or Colangelo is ready to make the jump to the NHL yet.

That's why I found it so odd when those reports came out. He's young, cheap, and good. Didn't seem like there was any reason for the Ducks to trade him. Seems like it must have been initiated by Terry's camp. The term 'change of scenery' in reports normally seems to indicate that.

Well, if he's angling to go home to Denver, the Avalanche are going to have to pay a hefty price for him because they have no second-rounder this year or next.

Oh, god. Don't even put the thought in my head that he could go to Colorado.

Whatever the situation, I hope the Leafs are in on him if he's available.

What kind of price do you think the Ducks would be looking for if he did want a change?

I think that we'd ask for one of their expansion-draft-risk-RWs like J. T. Compher or Joonas Donskoi or even Tyson Jost, who can play RW (or, better yet, Martin Kaut, because he's expansion-draft-exempt).

That's 3 Leaf posts in a row w/ only 20 on the roster.

That is not, nor will it ever be a CUP-formula.
The only CUP you & Dubas will drink from will come w/ an elastic strap+foam & not white gloves.

Oh, I didn't mean Av's specific, just in general. Do you think they'd be looking for players, picks, prospects? Some combination?

I think that we're odds-on to ask for a quality RD prospect or a replacement RW. Nobody's giving us a late first for him (even Columbus or Minnesota with an "extra" one), so I can't see getting a second as worth the effort. I mean Yeah, Comtois was an early second, but so was Antoine Morand.

Interesting. Well, I'll keep hoping. I'm a fan of his, and personally, had the Leafs not wasted their 1st round pick this year (I'll die mad about that trade if Foligno doesn't re-sign for cheap), I'd have seriously considered making that offer if it were up to me, and I'd still try to find a way to swing a deal if he's available - maybe something around Liljegren, idk.
