Palat to STL makes so much sense, we would actually be willing to trade assets for him instead of Tampa having to pay for a cap dump. Bet he would waive too, I’m sure he’d love top 6 minutes on a team trying to contend and his play style would fit perfectly here.

He already plays top 6 minutes on a cup contender , with that said he can be convinced to waive.

What's STL's cap situation look like for taking on Palat's contract?

I like it! This mock-up is a pretty good one. A 1st Round Pick (+) to Seattle to have them select Johnson will hurt but is a very realistic possibility. (Tampa is going to have a serious case of "empty cupboards" with all the picks and young talent they keep sacrificing!)

Palat moving, too, seems legit, though he does hold a lot of the cards. The worry, I think, for Tampa fans has to be if the Lightning are forced to trade a good young player who doesn't have NTC or NMC (Cirelli, Cernak, Sergachev). I'd think that's the last thing they'll want to do, but they may have tied their hands. (?)

That's what I figure, his NTC shifts to a 20 team trade list this summer and I don't see why St. Louis wouldn't be on it

Palat's NTC becomes a M-NTC (20 team trade list) this "July 1" so he'll be easier to move once that happens

We definitely have the space to do, we have enough to sign two top 6 LW’s this offseason and Palat at 5.3 is perfect.

Moving Palat is certainly a possibility, but if we do it'd have to be for at the very least a 2nd

There is definitely a timeline where this could work.
