Description

Yzerman primarily staying the course of slowly injecting youth into the lineup, and bringing in/retaining vets as mentors.

The signing of Denault provides a mentor for fellow French Canadian Joe Veleno as well as upgrading the weak center position. This also takes some of the pressure of Dylan Larkin to always have to play against the other teams top scoring lines, since Danault is very effective in this role.

Signing Bertuuzzi to the two year deal gives both parties some benefits. After an injury plagued year, Bert still gets a raise and some commitment on term from the Wings, but it still provides some flexibility for the Wings because of his history of injuries. At the end of this two year contract, Bert is still an RFA.

The draft has the Wings taking Simon Edvinsson (LD) at 6 and Francesco Pinelli (LC) with the pick from Washington

Bert wouldn’t be an RFA at the end of that contract. I like Danault especially at that term but you need to add some more money imo (~1M).

Bertuzzi gets at least 4 x $4,500,000 that's a very nice contract if Yzerman were to move him. Vrana gets the Mantha deal 4 x $5,700,000 maybe he gets slightly more term 5-6 years.

For one of the big 4 defenders (Power, Clarke, Hughes, and Edvinsson) we would need just 2 forwards or Wallstedt to go before. I’m betting on Beniers for sure and then I’m a big fan of Guenther & Eklund so either way 6 is a good spot. Johnson is also interesting but I’d prefer the ones I mentioned earlier.

I do think Vrana gets 500-750k more with that term.

After this playoff run no way Danault ends up on Detroit. He has value and will either stay in Mtl or join another team set up for the playoffs.

Instead of danault let ras play center in between skill guys and he becomes the physical and net guy for them.
