How the Oilers will win the cup

Description
This is a mix of what I think will happen (Barrie and Smith resign) and what I think the oilers should do. My forwards depend on a lot of hope that forwards such as Mcleod, Yammamoto, and Puljujarvi grow into great players along with Lavoie in the future.

I signed Antti Raanta because I dont see 39 year old Mike Smith being able to last another full 82 game season of hockey plus playoffs and Raanta has shown that he can be a very solid goaltender that you can be able to rely on. I signed Mike Smith because the Oilers will prolly end up doing it anyway

I love Nikita Gusev and his goal scoring touch could be exactly what the oilers need along with Brandon Saad who at the moment has 5 goals in 5 games plus his speed which would be deadly. Saad has been on a few cup runs with Chicago and now the Avalanche so the playoff experience will definitely help the team.

Traded Neal to Detroit because they had said they were willing to accept cap dumps and Rasmussen is a RFA that has potential to be a solid bottom six guy.

Only other thing I would consider doing would be to trade Bear for a better forward and aim to move Broberg into the lineup. On the flip side I still have almost 2.5mil in cap and Koskinens contract is finally over next season so that should free up lots of money to go ahead resign Bear and get some other players.

Also I got no idea who Seattle will take but for the sake of this GM mode I hope/wanted it to be Kassian so that I could have extra money

Instead of ripping this apart. Why would the wings do this?

Detroit would be willing to accept cap dumps but that isn't nearly enough to dump Neal and get Rasmussen back.

I think Detroit would so something around this offer because the 2022 draft year will be a VERY deep draft class and you would expect the oilers to finish near the top of the table giving them a low first round pick and a high second.

Your probably not wrong which is another reason I left 2.4 mil because the contracts could be more. But Gusev is coming off of a rough season and he didint even play in the playoffs so I cant see him getting too much more

"Traded Neal to Detroit because I have no idea what I'm doing" is more like that you should have said.

My thoughts exactly, he is a 9th overall pick that's only 22 years old, a huge body that can skate with nothing but upside. The second round pick maybe gets you rid of the Neal contract but there would need to be something else in this deal that gets you Rasmussen included.

You're not even in the right universe with that Detroit trade. Hardest of passes possible.

Detroit already have 9 waiver eligible wingers penned in for next year plus Raymond and Berggren. Detroit don't need any more wingers!

If Oilers wants to do a salary dump for two years they will have to pay to make it happen. Neal + a first and nothing back could possibly be done.

Detroit recieved a 2nd this season for taking on Staal but that was one year and it was in a position where Detroit needed players.

It's going to take a first to dump 2 years of Neal and they wouldn't trade rasmuesson. So either a 2nd and rodrigue/lavoie or a first and the tkeep Ras. That's the price of doing business in a flat cap era

Uh mind your own business? I asked him why the wings would do this instead of spreading the normal ripping people apart on this site. Wanted to get his side of it, since it wasn't even close to what the wings would do. Hopefully you have a really bad day today
