This guy was to be the #1 goalie for the Caps. Played very well last year, this year too, but got hurt long term and Vanecek (a nobody) got hot in his absence. This doesn't mean Samsonov's bad and will sign a back-up level contract at 24 years old lol! Please! If he signs for 1.5M$-2M$, then it's a 1 year contract. (which I hardly believe both party wants). If it's a 3 years contract, it'll be based on Jarry contract (3.25$'$ per). More for 5+ years. The more reasonable option for both parties is a bridge contract. They might also part with him and keep Vanecek, but I don't think it's the right move. #my2cents

Jarry was more proven and i believe he was voted to the ALl-Star game before signing his deal. Samsonov has never been the #1 goalie in Washington... hes going to be given a shot next year but hehasnt shown anything yet at all
