Peg declines. Reilly isn’t the kind of defender we need

I just chose Winnipeg to make the point. Trade can happen with literally any team that wants an LHD. Don't care where he goes, but moving Rielly makes sense.

I don’t think the Jets would be that interested in Rielly and that bottom six is pretty weak

i think with the salary cap staying flat and our core's continual inability to be engaged in the playoffs and prove they can carry a team, we really should move marner to 1. shakeup the team and 2. stop handcuffing the roster with cheap/bad depth.

look at the 3rd/4th lines of most of the teams still in the playoffs rn, they're stacked with good young players that make way more than league min

brooks/thornton/simmonds/mikheyev/engvall weren't the answer this year

Absolutely. One of the big forwards needs to go as well just to free up some money for your other lines. Dubas really pulled a Chiarelli on them Cap wise.

I mean, Nylander played great, JT has shown up every year in the playoffs when healthy, and while Matthews didnt do much this year, he's still a generational talent. Marner has the talent to be worth his deal, but his problem is that he is mentally really weak. I just don't think Marner can handle high pressure games at all. I understand why some people want to trade him, but at the same time, I can totally see him getting traded and then finding his mental games somewhere else and making us look real stupid. Players as skilled as Marner are hard to get.

You think Dougie Hamilton is going to sign in Toronto for 7 mil? Canes surely offer that and he'd much rather play there I'm sure. Either way, another team offers way more than 7.

Yeah I don’t think “way more” will happen lol. Pietrangelo was signed for only 1.8 million more than what I offered for Hamilton here.
