Actually a really good offer but I have a feeling some sabers fans might disagree.

Fiala and Dumba are nice parts, but would require a far better prospect or centerman. Eriksson Ek or Boldy will need to come back as well

Your getting 3 firsts a young top 6 winger and a top 4 defenseman and a prospect and a third. This is more than enough without a center as the key piece. I know sabers want a center but I’d be supprised if there is a better offer.

Again, if I was GMBG, this is the most I’d go, and I wouldn’t offer this right off the bat (Fiala+Dumba, and 2 firsts right away). If the Sabers want to try and hit a homerun with Byfield or Turcotte from LA or with Laf/ Kappo from NYR, be my guest but right here you are getting 2 proven NHL’ers and 3 first round picks. With an above average prospect as well.

It’s overpay for sure. Don’t know why the wild would part way with fiala while bribing in Eichel. Seems like a guy you’d want to keep to play with him. Imo, drop one of the first this year, fiala and the third. Add Rossi. There’s your center prospect. I just done see Buf not wanting a center, after drafting two wingers last year. Rather sacrifice some value to get one added

We aren’t going to be able to afford Ek, Kap, Fiala and Eichel.

There def could be a way, moving Parise in another deal somehow. But from Buf perspective Fiala doesn’t make sense as he’d be like 28/29 by the time Buf is contending. This might be the most you would offer, I feel I made it similar value, just shifted pieces to make it desirable from Buf perspective

I'd gladly ditch one of the 1sts and get Boldy instead

If buffalo made this deal, they would have 8 picks in the first 3 rounds this year. With 2 first rounders next year. If I’m a new GM trying to rebuild this franchise I take it and run. If you aren’t good in 2-3 years you can flip Fiala for a lot of assets same with Dumba (assuming buff doesn’t break them)

I would gladly ditch a 1st or 2 1sts to get proven players. We have the longest active playoff drought. Ownership wants a faster turnaround.

By the rules of capfriendly, Sabres aren't allowed to use any of those pieces to address their need at C with a subsequent trade. Therefore NO DEAL!

I’m just curious why, from Buffalo standpoint, they should have to make a subsequent trade for a center prospect, when the team making the trade has, wait for it, a center prospect. It’s almost like the Wild should trade fiala for a center prospect to throw into an Eichel trade. Or does that not jive because you say so?

Buf breaks everyone. See Hall, Taylor. Value is fine, parts are wrong. If you want Buf to flip Fiala for a center prospect because it makes sense for Buf to have a center prospect, like I said above why doesn’t Min trade fiala for center prospect to be thrown in.

Because with this trade the sabers would have 5 first round picks in the next 2 years. Probably get Byfield for 3 of them. Then the trade would become Dumba, Fiala Byfield, MK for Eichel. That’s a pretty damn good deal for them if you ask me

I doubt the Kings would trade Byfield for 3 later firsts. And if they would, just go get Byfield for the two later first this year and fiala. Then Byfield, Dumba, MK, and a 22 first should work

They don't have to do anything but a trade proposal doesn't need to immediately solve all the teams problems. So long as the perceived value of the incoming assets are enough then its a valid proposal and Buffalo can then use those assets to address their needs as they see fit. It's the same idea as drafting for need vs BPA

I’ve said as much. Value is there. I also it might be an overpay. Mnwild was playing the part of BG, I’m playing the part of KA in a negotiation. He said that’s the most he’d offer, I as the Buf GM would try to use said value but make it more to my organizational needs. It’s kinda a lazy cop out to say well then x team can just make other moves to fit organizational needs in a forum. It would be like a team putting a package for fiala using Dmen and picks. Most of the wild fans would say wrong parts

I get what you're saying and I think in an ideal situation you want both teams to have all their needs met with the trade but if Buffalo feels the need to move Eichel (which may or may not be the case) and this is the best offer they receive from any team in terms of overall value then that's the deal they should take and make subsequent moves. OP felt like this was enough value to acquire Eichel and a proposal he/she felt the Wild could stomach so in my mind it's as good an ACGM as any even if its not an ideal fit from Buffalo's perspective.

I get it. And if Buf trades with NYR they don’t have the center prospects. I think that’s why Minny and LA would be the targets, because they do have the center targets that carry that type of value. Value was always fine, I tried to alter within the value for team needs as well
