Matthews has no right to request a trade after that horrible series from him.

I'm already finding this whole take of "Dubas fails again"... how is any of this his fault?

He gave the team literally everything they needed to compete:
1 - high powered offence... check
2 - top notch defence... check
3 - incredible goaltending... check
4 - grit/physical players... check
5 - veteran leadership... check
6 - offensive depth... check
7 - defensive depth... check
8 - a player's coach that the team loves playing for and not an absurb jacksass... check
9 - bought at the deadline and gave up no roster players to show the team he believed in them... check

None of this is on Dubas. None of it. Keefe should be taking a lot of the blame for not playing the top guys in the right spot to help them succeed better. That's on him. Malhotra should take A LOT of the blame for not adjusting the powerplay and having it be horrific for 3 months. And all of the blame should go to the players for straight up not performing when they needed it.

Dubas should be up for GM of the year with all the moves he's made to help the team win but because it's Toronto and because the players can't do anything when it's needed, he won't be. Ridiculous to even think "Progressive Dubas fails again"

facts. The worst part about this loss is that I don't even have a criticism of how this team is built. Built perfectly, folded under pressure yet again

1 - high powered offence... That disappears in the playoffs
2 - top notch defence... Until Muzzin goes down
3 - incredible goaltending... Yikes, passible to good at best
4 - grit/physical players... barely and he fought it tooth and nail
5 - veteran leadership... agreed
6 - offensive depth... agreed
7 - defensive depth... no
8 - a player's coach that the team loves playing for and not an absurb jacksass... Doesnt seem to have mattered
9 - bought at the deadline and gave up no roster players to show the team he believed in them... They had to

But at least they brought in Wickenheiser to help with player development, because she knows how to make it in the NHL and wasnt just on a Canadian team that beat up on nations with 1st time womens hockey players with 1/10 the budget USA and Canada had

also just like Eric Engels recently said...

The offence that still outscored Montreal in the series..
The team only allowed an average of 2 goals against per game since Muzzin got hurt? (empty net goal aside, obviously doesn't happen with a goalie in net)
The goalie that was better than Price in every game except game 7?
How many teams can say that they coulda brought in at least 3 top 6 defenceman if there was an injury? Not many and Toronto is one of them. That's pretty good defensive depth.

People can make fun of Toronto all they want because they didn't win. Sure. But you can't say they literally didn't have all the pieces to win. Their stars just didn't score when needed.

Price was by far the better goalie in Game 1 + specifically 5 - 7 and even Game 3

Not really. Just because the numbers were there, doesn't mean he was better. If it wasn't for Campbell's play in game 6, it woulda been 8-0 Montreal. Campbell stood on his head and had way more high quality shots. But his save percentage from the game is just lower because overall Montreal had less shots. Doesn't mean Campbell wasn't better.
