Probably a good trade without Ollofson. Good idea though!

I wonder if Parise would waive so he could continue to play. The price sucks but it's probably close to fair. I just hate losing both Boldy and Rossi, but it's Eichel so I understand.

That is the kind of return I think Buffalo should hope for, though I don't think the Parise thing works (even though I'm sure Minnesota wants/needs to shed his $$). Firstly, Parise has a NMC. I feel pretty confident he won't waive to finish his days in Buffalo. Secondly, I would hope the powers in Minnesota wouldn't do that to him. If he's going to keep playing, he wants a chance to compete I'm sure. Thirdly, even if Parise somehow accepted this deal, Buffalo should have no interest in that contract . . . not unless Minnesota retained some and/or really made the offer irresistible.

The trade value for Eichel is certainly there, once he proves he's made a complete recovery from his injury and Parise waives his NMC, but what do Greenway and Olofsson have to do with this?

You're treating the Parise part of this exchange as if it's somehow independent of the Eichel deal. Buffalo has to take back a significant cap hit as part of any Eichel trade to offset his $10 million ticket. If the Sabres get only guys on their ELCs like Boldy and Rossi as the on-ice elements of the trade, they have to absorb someone like Parise or Dumba in the exchange.

There are only a couple of teams at the bottom of the salary/cap table who can theoretically afford to swallow Eichel's cap hit, and some of them (notably Colorado) have new contracts to award that effectively take them out of the Eichel running.

Actually, I totally get that . . . What I ineffectively was trying to communicate is that Parise is not the player (or players) I see being packaged from Minnesota to acquire Eichel, for all the reasons I mentioned.

I saw another proposition where Dumba, Fiala, Rossi, and 3 decent draft picks were packaged to acquire Eichel; I felt that was the more likely scenario. That may seem an overpay in some Minny fans eyes, but I feel that if the Wild want to pull ahead of LAK or NYR in the Eichel front, it's a possibility. Also, with Calen Addison looking real good and Minnesota's protection concerns with Seattle looming, this deal would help them in that capacity, also.

Who knows, but it's all good fun!

Yes, a package involving Dumba makes a lot more sense for both teams.

I think that Boldy, Dumba and two firsts is about the best Buffalo can expect and the most that Minnesota can afford.

If it’s all the same to Minny, preference would be Rossi. It might not be, but center prospects trump wingers in a deal for Eichel, because he is a center and honestly Buffalo’s only outside of Cozens

Yes, that would be the hinge point to be hammered out. I specifically offered Boldy instead of Rossi for that precise reason! I was trying for the high heat, up and in.

With KA taking two winger prospects with his first two picks, a winger being the focal point in an Eichel trade seems... misguided

I think that he took two wingers because he felt he was set at center with Eichel, Cozens and Mittelstadt. But you are both right -- under the current circumstances, and in the context of an Eichel trade, I think Adams would hold out for, and get, Rossi instead of Boldy.

One thing I don't agree with is Adams felt set at center...I think Adams/organization knew this was coming with Eichel, this whole episode isn't about the Eichel injury it's about Eichel seeing change after change in coaches and GM's without any results. There were calls on Eichel last year...the GM's of other teams knew Eichel was not happy with how things were going, as the saying goes where there is smoke there's fire. I think most Sabre fans were shocked that Adams took Quinn (a winger ) over Rossi or another center which might make it look like Adams thought he was set at center. Lets face it to this point Adams hasn't made many right decisions. It's tough being a rookie GM and not having anyone to turn to for advice except inept owners. Hopefully the hiring of Karmonos gives Adams the help he desperately needs.

As far as this trade goes I think if Parise is included then a third team needs to be brought in. Buffalo has 2 bad contracts in Okposo and Skinner so they can't afford a 3rd.

I don't see Parise waving for BUF especially without Eichel there. He wants to win, not just add a couple more years of playing time to his career on a bad team.
