I'm not even going to bother addressing the rest of the insanity here, all I want to focus on is the Bobrovsky buyout:
Florida is one of the most cash-poor teams in the league. Full stop. Sure they save $9M here, and most owners would find that alluring, but the Panthers can save an additional $16M if they just trade him at 50% retained. The sum cost of a buyout is $41M and the cost of retaining on the rest of Bob's deal is $25M. This is still a substantial loss for the Panthers, and they're a club that cannot afford that kind of dead cap. They can barely afford what they foolishly signed Bobrovsky to but they're at least getting *something* for their money. There's no way to convince the ownership to take that big of a loss for literally no return.
Bobrovsky will be Knight's backup until Spencer is owed a new contract. At minimum. $15M in dead cap is probably justifiable, as you're looking at the equivalent of a year and a half of Bobrovsky, but what's more likely is a buyout when there are 2 years left on that deal given the equivalence to paying him the same to not play for you as you would one season of Bob.
