PK for Trouba idea

Description

Does Trouba for PK make sense? Did not put too much effort into their trade values just the idea.

The thought is Trouba is the better player but on a riskier/ longer term contract, but the Devils need help on the right side of defense long term. While the Rangers already have Fox with Lundkvist and Schneider on the way. So PK would act as a stop-gap next year and would be gone after which clears up more cap space to sign Zibanejad, Strome, and Fox long-term.

Rangers lineup next year would be:

Lindgren - Fox
Miller - Subban
Hajek - Lundkvist?/ Schnedier?

Devils would be:

Smith - Trouba
Bahl - Severson
Siegenthaler - Butcher?/ Jacobs?/ Reilly?

This would be a terrible idea for NJ

Trouba has 5 years left and P.K has 1. We can get out of P.K's contract quicker and have the money to pay Jack, Bratt, Zacha, Blackwood, and more. Trouba's contract is horrible and might hurt us in the future.

Maybe he waives because the Devils and Rangers are like 15 minutes away from each other (without traffic). But I want nothing to do with Trouba

Wasn't focused too much on value just more on the idea.

It is more riskier but I think the Devils need to start making moves to get better now and not just keep waiting on prospects that may or may not develop. They have been 7th or 8th in the division for the last 7 years (outside of 17-18) and have been in the bottom 6 teams for payrolls the last 6 years including this year.

Their last major UFA signings were Vatanen, Kulikov, and Simmonds; so I doubt the Devils have a chance at Hamilton. Trouba may complicate things in the future but I think he would be great alongside Smith as the top pairing and would take some pressure off Severson.

Humh, I don't see Trouba as that much off a cap dump or know his wife was a doctor in the area. But yeah same idea as that.

Still a very good player but we have massive depth at RD.

Subban got traded with $54,000,000 and then again at $27,000,000 and Mantha ($22,8000,000) got traded not even a year into his contract. I thought it might be more probable with shakeup the Rangers started this year at the top.

Yeah but PK hasn't been great either, my original idea was PK for Trouba straight up. SInce Trouba is the better player but the Rangers get $8,000,000 back in the flat cap time we are in. But I am also very biased towards Trouba so I would not expect more than a 3rd/4th + Trouba for PK.
