Description

Another solution might be the Oilers getting a free top 6 forward. Is there a cap strapped team that might be letting go of a forward due to expansion or cap reasons for cheap?

Other than Danault, there's not a lot of good forwards out there in FA. Assuming Saad, Hall, Ovechkin, Krejci, Landeskog all stay with their teams.

You're left with Hoffman, Tatar, Granlund, Hyman, etc. Not exactly guys you wanna know throw big money / term at.

We can trade/buyout Neal and get 3M more. So that leaves around 5M in cap space. Is there a player out there?

What’s the acquisition cost you think? I mean we have a couple second rounders and 1sts, also have Benson and Marody and Lavoie. And obviously lower end picks. I’m hoping we can get some of these guys for like 3rds and stuff like that.

I think Killorn is on the table since Stamkos is mostly on the wing now. He adds some grit to Edmonton also and solid two-way play. I agree they'd rather dump Johnson, but Killorn is more palatable. Maybe Benson and a 2nd+4th? Depends on how desperate Tampa is to get rid of salary.

One person you forgot on the UFA front is Jaden Schwartz. I think the Blues want to keep him and he is very touch and go in terms of production,but even when not producing he makes a difference.

If the cost were a third round pick, or less, I’d much rather trade for Killeen than sign anybody in FA
