For this year only, the Colorado Avalanche may consider paying a relatively large portion of Sergei Bobrovsky's ridiculous contract as long as they have the additional cap space for it amounting to no more than $1 mil COL cap money to him. However, this would only happen in the case that the team stays healthy and doesn't need to make big trades to stay in Cup contention. This amount should more than suffice combined with the draft picks and Hunter Miska considering Miska has lots of NHL starter potential.

Yeah, you're probably right, but with how COVID messed up the salary cap projection of the league when it was supposed to increase big time, I think certain players may or may not take pay cuts. In my scenario, I have Makar taking less money, but who knows what could happen. \-_-/

Gosh it's just at the end of the day the context & rationale behind a lot of these moves needs to be examined more in depth and more critically ✔

The mid career UFAs here for instance would simply get much more lucrative offers from other teams and for sure a pay cut to be with COL is valid but 1/3 ?

For Makar and Svech if Colorado offered them these deals they could go to arbitration and given the parameters of that process get at least 5M$ or +
