Jost has a very clean record. I didn't like the elbow, but he gets fined at the most. Kadri doesn't get any benefit of the doubt.

From what I’ve seen of Newhook, he may be able to hold down that spot until Kadri is back. And if not, adjustments can be made mid game.

if they start calling that, then Schenn should have gotten kneeing on Rantanen in game 1. You dont like those plays (Jost or Schenn but at no point are they suspendible)

Thing with the Schenn hit is that Schenn didn't stick his leg out to hit Rantanen, Rantanen had his legs spread open as he was trying to change his angle to avoid the hit. If you look, Schenn's legs are tucked underneath him and he goes for shoulder. Completely different than what Jost did.

I don't think that one was awful. Reckless but not sure it was knee to knee. I was not happy about the Parayko nonsense on Makar, and Bortuzzo had attempted to cross-check Jost's face earlier in the game. Both clubs have done some questionable stuff, but Kadri's is certainly on another level.

Jost was an intentional elbow. It wasn't a quick play nor were there any late adjustments on Bortuzzo's side. Completely different scenario than Schenn.
Now, I dont expect Jost to get suspended at all. In fact I'd be shocked, but he intentionally threw an elbow at a player's face. Schenn's hit "wasn't clean" as a result of Rantanen's movement, not his own.

If you really want to start playing Bortuzzo's a victim here, we can go through the game tape and find his incidents of dangerous plays, there was more than a few times that he could of hurt someone with how reckless he can play.

You can play that game with him and find an incident that "is suspendible"

just be happy that the DOPS is going to actually do the right call and give Kadri a lengthy suspension and not a fine or 1 game like Bennett type suspension. Avs fans can agree that it needs to be a long suspension for Kadri

I'm only saying in this case, Bortuzzo didn't do anything to put himself in a vulnerable position. But the Jost hit is not a "gray area" hit, he stuck out his elbow for the purpose of hitting him with it. That was my point.
Now an example of a gray area hit would have been the high hit Nichuskin laid on Bortuzzo in the first period. It was high and to the head, but it didn't look intentional and more of a follow through as a result of movement. That is a much more apt comparison to the Schenn hit.
I don't expect Jost to get anything for it, but it was a straight elbow. Hell, I'd be happy for a stern warning at this point because you're right, Jost has zero history of this behavior prior.
And yes, at least they'll do something about Kadri
