I mean, Batherson was on pace to be a 50 pt player (over 82 games) in his first full season, as a 22 year old. I don't really see any reason for the Sens to move him, unless they're putting together a package to get a significant upgrade.

Exactly this. Meaning if you were dead set on acquiring him you basically need to offer the Sens a package they can't turn down. That strategy from Leafs perspective is a bad one in my opinion because they would have to lose the trade to acquire the sought after Drake.

I like Dermot and Engvall, but can't see Sens doing that trade. And really where does Batherson fit into the Leafs at RW, and how do you protect Batherson if acquired pre Seattle draft?

100%. Sens have spent a ton of time and resources developing him, so there's really no good reason for them to do it. The guy has really, really solid potential, and is a really solid building block for the Sens.
