And yeah, I think that’d be enough for Laine. Not sure he’ll sign for $7M for 5 years. For that much, he’d probably only give you 2-3 years to allow him to bet on himself and go to UFA.

Any alternatives to Boone that you’d ask for? He’s got strong ties to the team, and I’m hard pressed to think they’d trade him as part of this package.

The only other option I see is Nyquist at 50% retained. But even then, not sure MB is interested in taking him. The purpose of dumping Byron and taking Jenner is to create space in a year when it is time to re-sign Suzuki.

For the habs, Jenner is Essentially a one-year rental. He can re-sign with Columbus in a year if the ties are that strong.
