Description
Testing the waters wondering what Detroit fans think. Most Wings fans think Seider is untouchable which is entirely fair, just want to know if this is close, over or under pay? Constructive criticism is welcome, no a$$holes please.
Patrick is worth the risk of a 2nd. Vancouver clears Loui and his cap, cheaper than Seattle taking him. Bye Copp

Scheifele has more value that Seider. Proven 1C, the other hardest position to fill in the NHL, Seider has yet to play an NHL game. Detroit adds

I agree at the moment Scheifele has more valve but he is 28. But maybe not in 2 or 3 years. If he was 5 years younger Scheifele is exactly what we need.

Scheifele would bring in kings ransom if detroit flipped him. Montreal, Columbus and so many more would be looking for a guy like him .

Don’t disagree with the RHD being most coveted, but asking for a Scorer like Connor or driver like Ehlers + Perfetti is a bit much for a guy who has yet to play an NHL game. I know his potential is high but that is excessive IMO.

It definitely is asking alot, the thing with them is they are all wingers, which is our strongest postion. And Perfetti as far as I still know has suspect skating. Is Perfetti was a sure fire center the add would be alot less. Also with us being as bad of a team as the Wings our asks are gonna be big.
I would have liked to try and steal Ehlers last year when his valve wasn't so high.

Perfetti is trending to be a C just on his IQ alone. It’s ridiculous. His foot speed was suspect at draft time but he has already worked on that and is noticeably better already. I would imagine he would start at wing then move to C as he acclimated to the game, many C’s have gone that route

Question, is Hronek actually top pair quality, or is he just playing top minutes cause he’s the best D Detroit has. Beaulieu used to play top minutes but is far, far away from top pair. Same could. be said for 95% of defenders I guess

I’d say he’s a 3D with room for growth considering he’s 23, never had a quality partner (DeKeyser, Nemeth, Cholowski), and paced ~40 points the past 3 years on a team that can’t score. He’s easily Detroit’s best defender currently and I’d like to see him with a quality defensive partner.

Copp is one of the best 2 way middle 6 C’s in the league. He can play up and down the lineup where he’s needed and produce regardless and is just hitting his prime. He’s not overrated, he’s just starting to get noticed! But yes. Peg adds to Copp for Hronek. But I do like that as a base. Great idea.

Copp wouldn’t be the base for Hronek. Copp has one year left of team control and other Winnipeg fans have hinted that he wants out. Another issue with the Lowry extension is who Winnipeg protects between him and Appleton. I have no problem giving a second round pick for Copp but he doesn’t really start the conversation with Hronek for me. I’d be looking at one of Heinola or Perfetti in the deal.

Ya definitely. Perfetti also done well in AHL. If you are looking for RD, I would offer Antti Tuomisto and 2022 2nd, plus probably more. Tuomisto isn't as hyped or as physical, but is trending very well. RD, 6'3, 195LB 20yrs old, 2nd rounder in 2019.
Might even consider moving Hronek for Perfetti. As RD for us is actually well stocked.

That’s why I was thinking Seider was moveable per-se. I know he’s your best D prospect, but your D prospect depth is awesome, and you seem to be short high end forwards. Thought it would work well for both Peg and Wings

Would a Copp+ small add be enough for Hronek? Hronek is a bit older and may not fit your rebuild timeline. Copp comes in, becomes a team leader, playing for him hometown. Just a thought

Rumor is he wants to play in the states. My guess is Detroit, his hometown, or with his BFF in NY. I have no doubt he would sign an extension with Detroit

I wouldn't think so. Copp is 26 and is what he is. Would he make our team better yes. But Hronek is probably gonna end up being our 2nd pair RD and a really good 1 at that. If we were to move him it's for someone that can grow into our 1 or 2C or 1 or 2 LD. And be in the age group of 18-23

Top pair idk, probably not but he's a legit top 4 dman and last I checked the Jets only have two of those and they're short on good RHD.

You are not going to get a 1C or #1LD for Hronek. A 2C or 2nd pair LHD, maybe, but not a high end guy. You may get lucky with a reclamation project like William Karlsson in Vegas, but chances are slim

Wonder if a Samberg+/Hronek would work as a base. Would pair well with Seider and is on a cheap ELC for a few years. Fits the rebuild

He's only really produced in the top 6 with Ehlers, the top line looked flat when he was on it. Think many are missing that this was a wierd season with no preseason games and the North Division is weak defensively, Copp never broke the 30 point mark before this season and he's barely played center this season, also a stretch calling him a middle six center when he didn't accomplish much of anything at 2C last season. I like him but I do think he has gotten a bit overrated, if Copp+ could land Hronek I make that trade all day depending on what the plus is though obviously.

Don't know much about him, but looking him up. 22 years old, 3 years of NCAA and a year in the AHL. Probably not as established of a player that we would be looking for at that age. And in the reality of trading Hronek it is probably a year or so to early as our RD prospects are still pretty unknown.

Too much potential in Perfetti to make a trade for that kind of return. Detroit adds a lot.
That is why a Perfetti/Seider trade is so polarizing in my view. So much risk for both teams and both appear to be top line players (potential anyways) A trade like that could pay dividends for both. Detroit D depth is a plus and can (afford to gamble) to get that high end C that they are missing. Wings fans say that Seider is untouchable because of his potential, but forget that Perfetti has that exact same potential! I only added Samberg and the pick as the overpay to try to get them to bite. The value favours Detroit by a large margin IMO but completely understand the view that he is untouchable.
If Detroit wants that high end C, you either need to draft him, or trade with something that would hurt, same as Winnipeg if they want that high end D, and the same with every other team.
At least you guys are setup well this year and next to try and draft that top end C and LD you need.

im not a Jets fan, and i dont factor in NHL readiness as a viable reason to value a prospect more than another when it's max a seasons difference or so. Perfetti is already a great player and he is easily close to on par value wise with Seider

I totally agree in regards to value. I only added the pluses to try and get Detroit to bite. But in a vacuum it’s as close to 1-1 as you can get I think

So why is Detroit paying for an asset when they can potentially get them for free in a year? Detroit needs top end players especially at defense and center so why trade for a mid 6 forward on a career year? The extension isn’t the worry at all, it’s the cost of a young top 4 defensemen when he (Copp) may even be exposed in the ED.

Hronek is 23 and established, how does Samberg fit the rebuild but Hronek doesn’t? If you want Hronek think Heinola or Perfetti otherwise there’s no reason for Detroit. Not to pick on Samberg but we have his quality LHD in our pipeline.
