A kid with the marlies who I think is going to get signed next year. He sighed a 2 year AHL deal last season. Really good offensive player who was not drafted due to skating issues. Also knows Robertson and SDA
Think of a low risk high reward kind of guy who could crack an nhl lineup in 2-3 years in a bottom 6 role. But man does this kid have a dangerous shot like wow

They don't have his rights, though
Edit: I know they could still sign him, but other teams can too, I believe. Right?
Wow, page 235 ... at least 5854 posts in this thread ... idk when it'll get locked, but this has been fun keeping up with this thread ... thank you, everyone!
Yeah, a broken and unfair system, sorry TB fans but that's what this championship was about.
Montreal or Toronto would have to pay Kucherov 15m+ to pay him what Tampa pays him. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. Bittman will never do anything to benefit the Canadian Teams though.

And Toronto can give players Canadian Tire deals and give most of their contracts in bonuses. Yzermans don't grow on trees, not every GM can build a team like he did.
Saying hello from Grand Manan. I’m currently connected on a sh*ty island wi-fi. Congrats Tampa and Nill please do something smart for the first time in your life. I’m now leaving on a ferry.
Kucherov was clearly drunk last night blasting Montreal fans for no reason and MAF ( I would’ve given the Vezina to Vasy too but come on Kuch ), if Kuch wants to be a hated player these comments + his antics will certainly get him there

Kuch said Habs fans celebrated like the won the cup after the game 4 wins, and said our finals was last round and said Vasy deserved the Vezina over Fleury, not even stating him from name just saying that guy from Vegas clearly under the influence

WTF? Winning has brought out the nasty side of Kucherov.

That's legally not allowed to do. Tampa is legally allowed to do it because the NHL let's them. Yzerman is an amazing GM and he will turn Detroit into a Dynasty, but 0% state tax is definitely a big advantage. Bonus's have to do with the owners, not the team.

Where are the facts to back up this statement? For all I know, TB is paying less money for its star players than Canadian teams do, and it has nothing to do with the negociation prowesses or the roster building skills of the GM.
Teams can be maximum $5M over the salary cap during the playoffs
Quoting: SevenLeg
Not even $5M$ imo. There's a cap or there's none, no in-betweens.
To make this work they’d also need to introduce a playoff taxi-squad sort of thing, because no one is going to be under the cap with 30 players on their roster.
The reason there’s no cap in the playoffs is because it makes the cap calculations super complicated, but also screws over teams depending on how deep they get into the playoffs. As well as the fact that the players don’t get paid during the playoffs. What they could do is introduce a 10% limit of going over like in the off-season, since accrual of cap space and cap hits in the playoffs is way too messy.
And as an aside, I think the arguments of how this happened before with Kane isn’t a good comparison, since Chicago didn’t plan for Kane to get injured. They surprisingly ended up with more cap space than they thought they’d have during the season, and used it to add a player to replace him (Which is the point of LTIR). Whereas the Lightning specifically timed Kucherov’s surgery so that he would miss the entire regular season, and their entire team and off-season was built around the fact that they’d have Kucherov off the books for the entire year.
