even if winnipeg does want to sell, i think the rangers should stay far away from scheifele. i believe hertl is a perfect fit going forward for this team

My worry for Hertl is injury and not putting up enough points, Zib can get really hot but can be cold many other nights and we need to have Hertl scoring if that’s the case. He’s only had more than 50 points one season (granted last two seasons were shorter) but that’s what worries me a bit. Also what’s the huge worry about schiefele?

You arent getting Scheifele or Pettersson. They simply are not remotely available.

Hertl's a good target but I think you should consider Krejci. This team needs a veteran presence

Ok I got rid of the pettersson trade idea. My issue with Krejci is he resembles too much of the rangers struggle to get a cup before, he’s a middle 6 center And doesn’t always put up points, would rather go for Hertl at that point, or just stick with strome for next season

Crosby was a shoe in idea (won’t happen), schiefele was to gage the audience to see his value, pettersson (would likely be an OS if it happened which won’t) and Hertl isn’t a “star” center who wouldnt cost likely more than I proposed

The po8nt of bringing in a guy lile Krejci isnt to win the cup next year, thats not realistic. Its to mentor the kids. The Rangers have a severe lack of mentors on the team. He is also free to sign

Yea but the more I do those ideas the more it likely won’t work out with cap (unless we don’t keep Zib) for more than a year or two. I honestly wonder if the rangers consider moving Zib this offseason and trying to get both eichel and a Hertl type player as well to replace the current guys.

Rangers have made it a point that they are ready to start competing so that’s out of the question. Also we are gonna need to start trying some players/ picks soon anyways

I never said you cant start competing, but you arent winning it all next year. Thats why you bet on Chytil to be your future 2C. As I said Krejci is a mentor to help the kids develop properly.

This is the way I look at it. The Rangers could go for a "star" center and have a below average second line center. Or they could go for a 1A/1B center duo

Eichel - 10 M
Strome - 5 M

Zibanejad - 8 M
RNH - 7 M
