if the pens want another decent shot at the cup next they need to get rid of contracts like zuck, mp and/or matheson. if this team can stay generally healthy next year they can make another cup run

Ottawa declines. I realize a 7th rounder is almost useless, but so is Juuso Riikola.

Thanks, I was actually writing up a more well thought out answer and then just went with the joke. But truthfully, with Chabot, Mete, and Brannstrom on the left, IF they feel the need for another LHD they'll go with size and physicality above anything else. Plus that, Riikola cleared waivers just a few weeks ago... so it's not likely gives up a pick for him now.

Wha?

Sorry 2000, that's not how you get to move the deck chairs on the Titanic!

He could get moved yes of course - but you know you'll have to throw in a prospect or pick(s) everyone on here knows that - OR - you keep him & his US$5.5M-Large (not Canadian pesos $$ & now you are officially way over the Cap) and therefore lose a younger 'player' which is where the Starbucks will almost assuredly go...

Because not many teams will leave a top 6 player under 30 exposed 🤷‍♂️

You selected my #1 of 2 posts ^ ^ ^. OK.

If they need to get to the floor you may be right - frankly that's the only scenario I can envision.

Again, everyone else on here w/ a legit ACGM is adding to the deadwood/Zucker's - why does PITT get a "bye"?

FWD's PITT protects as per SEA Simulator = Malk, Cros, Jake G, Rust, Tanev, Kapp, McCann - thus exposing - A-REESE, BLUEGER, RODRIGEZ, JANK - I'd pick from this pile way before Zuck...

Wouldn't you??

See that's the rub....@ 9-cookies & 9-apples this NHL-campaign and $$5.5m US in a Cap-strapped world - Why would Zucker "BE THE GUY" they gladly take? (as he's not top 6 currently but maybe is in the Charlestown Chief Beer League)...you will have to add some pick(s) &/or prospect(s) - 110%!

The pens aren’t protecting Tanev over Blueger. As much as it would suck to lose Tanev, it would be 10 times worse to lose Blueger. So out of ZAR, Tanev, ERod, Jankowski and Zucker. I’m picking Zucker. ERod is a UFA, Jankowski is an ahl player, Tanev is a hefty contract for a bottom 6 forward. ZAR...maybe. Like I said. There aren’t many top 6 forwards under 30 going to be available. They will have a plethora of bottom 6 forwards that will likely be cheaper than the pens bottom 6 forwards.
And yes, Zucker absolutely is a top 6. Just because the trolls on here that don’t watch hockey and always have bad takes on here want to pretend every pens player is a cap dump, it’s just not true.

zucker isn't a cap dump as much as he hasn't clicked since he was brought over which is unfortunate. if him and malkin can click in these playoffs i think they should keep him but paying 5mill for how he played so far this year isn't worth it

He clicked well with Crosby, played well with Carter, and honestly played pretty well with geno in the few games he’s been back, just snake bitten. It’s not like he hasn’t had great chances. The first part of the year Geno was really bad and everyone that ended up on his line suffered, not just Zucker. It wasn’t until Kapanen was put on that line that Geno finally got it together. Zucker just got hurt by that time. I mean even with a down year, he stilled paced 20+ goals and 20+ assists in an 82 game season. Which is why I beg to differ with the other person claiming we’d have to add picks and prospects to get Seattle to take him if left exposed.

Detroit might accept that trade. Value's probably fine. Could take it or leave it, in my opinion.
