Description
This might be the most important offseason in Buffalo's history. One of the greatest players to ever play for the franchise / captain of the team is sick and tired of losing. You have one last shot to build a team that will make playoffs and this is how I would do it.

The first thing first is for the love of god, fix the D. Focus on steady stay at home defence man such as Savard, Cole and other. They will have to be over paid to come to Buffalo, but Dahlin needs someone steady to help his play grow. Same goes for Joki. If you can sure up your Defence with solid stay at home guys, you are off to a better start.

Secondly is find Jack the right lines. AKA keep Skinner and Oloffson on his line. They have showed they can score in bunches in the past and Skinner will do your team noting on the fourth line. The other big fix is center depth. Adding Johansen helps offencely as well as in the faceoff dot. He has had a rough go in NAshville and you take a big risk on moving for his contract but I think it benefits him, Sam for having a new center and whoever gets thrown on to the second line left winger spot (Debrusk, Cozen, etc.)

Lastly, get some freaking backup help. Ullmark is a great goalie but he is always hurt, so sign a couple of back up goalies who can play large loads such as Rittch and a 2B back up.

The team needs to fight and arugbly make the playoffs to keep Jack this season. If they don't, then why keep him? Rebuild the rebuild and trade him, Sam and others for a huge pile of picks and prospects and hope this one doesn't suck

  1. DeBrusk, Jake
  2. Moore, John
  3. Choix de 1e ronde en 2022 (BOS)
Détails additionnels:
Buffalo takes a struggling Debrusk who can hopefully find his game with top 6 mins in Buffalo. Moore goes to LTIR and the 1st is for next season
BOS
  1. Ristolainen, Rasmus
  2. Choix de 3e ronde en 2022 (BUF)
Détails additionnels:
Boston gets a solid top 4 defenceman who will only thrive in a better system. Between, Macovy, Carlo and RIsto, Boston will have a good top 4 that produces offence.
2.
BUF
  1. Johansen, Ryan (1 500 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Buffalo take a chance on Johansen re finding his game. Clearly Nashville hasn't worked out and its time to move on. His cap is a huge problem, but Buffalo has the cap to take a hit. If Nashville holds 1.5 million, I think the deal makes sense for Buffalo
NSH
  1. Girgensons, Zemgus
Détails additionnels:
Nashville gets to unload a huge contract for a player who has top 9 upside. Girgensons was injured all season so he could be a better player coming back. At worst, Nashville saves 4.3 million off the cap

Not that it`s bad, but this isn`t going to change Bufflo my friend. They need to trade Eichel and tank for Wright or Bedard.

Boston has no interest or need in Risto. Mac and Carlo entrenched as top 4 RD. They are not paying a 3rd RD top 4 $ to play 3rd pair.

I don’t hate the idea, but the execution is not there. I like the idea of Johansson retained but I think you’ve got to move Reinhardt as well, no way he signs for that term let alone that price. Ristorante and Reinhardt are the 2 pieces that have any value outside of Eichel.

Without nitpicking the trades, honestly Jack said similar statements last year (granted, worse this year), so I really don't think there's any "last chance" scenarios left. The team has gotten better on paper the last several years, but still nothing can get done on the ice. After so many GMs and coaches and trades and signings, I think it's just a loser mentality in the locker room with the current core, and the entire team needs to be blown up and build around Cozens, Olofsson, Dahlin, and maybe Mitteldstadt, etc. Everyone else goes

I really don't view this team better on paper than this year's team on paper. But, we know the end result...

Why so rude? Wtf. 😑

Without any input

Aside from the RJo trade this AGM is like the absolute average cap friendly scenario and arguably better than most people due to the more tactful fa deals

Everyone wants to give RNH 6M+ for like 6 years

But taking on 6.5M$ of RJo for 4 is much worse??

10 points for effort and gumption for sure 👍

I think the execution is fairly tactful as well

Instead of taking on RJo why not just sign a good UFA for about that money or a bit less to keep Girgensons who is ok depth in the fold like Tatar or someone

NSH might give up much more for taking on RJo

Anyhow this a noble attempt at something noble

Okay first things first, that bruins trade is a nightmare. Risto is not good, and would be their third pair RD behind mcavoy and carlo getting paid 5.4 to not be good. Tahts crazy, especially considering what the bruins are giving up.

Here is why the notion of not trading jack eichel is horrible:
1. If you wait a year, after July 1 guess what kicks in? An NMC. Now jack gets to dictate where he goes, and we all saw how that worked out with hall. That has the potential to drive the price way down.
2. He wants out! Having your franchise player clearly hate playing for the franchise is not a good spot to be.
3. Let’s say the Sabres have a good re-tool. They’ll need minimum three years before they compete. So if they’re lucky, maybe eichel plays a couple important games in the second to last year of the playoffs. Maybe they make the playoffs in the last year of his deal. And then he walks.

Trading eichel now is the only thing that makes sense.

I said please, wasn't that rude lol. The Okposo trade is the worst, the 2022 draft is stacked, and we're giving up a pick, that will likely end up being very high for two years off the cap? And worst case scenario, that trade becomes 3rd overall or something, we then have to chose between giving up one of Savoie/Wright/Bedard, or giving up our 2023 pick that easily could be Bedard or Michkov, for 2 years of Okposo's contract. While putting is with another bad contract in Ryan Johanson for even longer just doesn't make sense. This team still isn't good enough, + put our future at an even worse position
