I agree one of the best offers for Buffalo but not good for Ottawa at all. That’s 2 young forwards with 60+ pts potential, a #2Dman prospect who’s elite on both ends of the ice and a top 10 pick.

This would be a horrendous mistake for Ottawa. That's three players who should be completely untouchable. I wouldn't put one of those guys in an Eichel trade.

Take one of Sanderson or top 10 pick out and I like it. Can even replace either one with a lesser pick or prospect if need be.

This trade effectively destroys Ottawa's rebuild, losing three major core pieces and a 1st for a guy who only plays an avg of 66 games per 82, and seems like a bit of a malcontent. Yes Eichel is a point a game centre, but Batherson is easily going to be a mid 60's point player, Norris an upper 50's point player, and both these guys are good defensively, Norris already drawing the other teams best line in his rookie season. Sanderson will be a top pair D. Trading the promise of three very good players for a 24 year old, injury prone very very good player, is short sighted and would have a negative impact on this team, not to mention the picks, and of course team favourite warrior Watson, on a good contract. Too much for the unnecessary risk of Eichel.

Norris and Bather combine will double the points and goal total of Eichel alone, and if eichel gets injured you get zero production but if one of Bath or Norris gets injured they other still priduces

no team is going to cripple their team for one player. Buf fans going to have to accept they will not get what they think they should get for Eichel. They will most likely get what OTT got for Ek but with better quality secondary prospect that what Balcers was.

They might get something like Monahan + good prospect + 2 1sts and I don’t think teams are rushing to trade for Monahan right now anyways

Only thing I’d say to this is that the ottawa pieces are all based off their ceiling. Who knows if they will reach that ceiling. They are just prospects or rookies that can turn into something really good or flat out busts. Eichel is a generational talent who can help fix a team that properly builds a team around him. You already know who Eichel is and he is just reaching his prime. These others commodities can be complete busts.

Yup, you’re right, Eichel is already 24 and the prospects have their entire careers ahead of them, without needing surgery to repair their neck. Let’s not do the trade and revisit this in a few years.

But that’s the whole thing with prospects. They can be complete busts. We are least know Eichel is over a ppg player and can be elite on a terrible team. Imagine if he’s surrounded by good players
