Description
I think EJ is done in Colorado. Either its a buyout or he sits on LTIR as the moment he takes the ice he gets hurt every season. Not sure whats up with Frankie in goal but Joe needs to proactive this offseason in getting a better backup hence the signing of Driedger and Frankie can be on the taxi squad if they do that the next year.

With 4.5 million in cap room left that is depending on EJ and a buyout as that will cost 2 million.

Not sure if Pittsburg would trade Guentzel but Kadri who could replace Krejci who would be an UFA and Burakovsky who would then replace Guentzels spot seems like a fair trade. Of course Kadri would have his trade protection so not suer what teams would be on it.

I see Landeskog taking less to keep the team together. He didnt want to leave when Colorado was at their worst a few seasons ago, so I doubt he will leave when they their best years are at the moment. Same with Makar. I dont think he will try to reset the market even though he could moreso if he wins a Norris after with the calder trophy.

Finally Stastny can finish his career where it started and be a great mentor for Newhook and give us a strong down the middle presense with Mack, Newhook, Stastny and Jost. Where they all could shift up a line if injuries happened.

Avs woudlnt involve Newhooks name when they were checking on Dubois at the start of the year. Buch as winger and 1 year away from UFA isnt demanding Newhook. Especially since he has made his NHL debut and is looking solid playing 2C already

if Buch is moved, temper the expectations of a newhook level return

Wings are going to pass, 3.5M for a bottom 6 guy who isn't that good, we are rebuilding Through the draft, not helping avs with cap space and giving up a better pick to make it happen.

After expansion draft is over, any of these guys, graves, Timmins, jost or 2 3rds to take his contract off your hands, otherwise you can keep the player and the contract and we will continue the rebuild through the draft as is.

I don't see us buying out johnson and odds are he will start on the team so you're going to need room for his cap. Odds are he will get injured again so depending when that happens maybe a mid season trade for depth scoring.
I like guentzel but i think if you take him away from crosby and bump him down a line like you've done you're going to see a lot more similar scoring pace as burky so it's kind of a wash plus we lose kadri.
Stas signing doesn't make much sense to me, hes too slow for our team build and Jost has actually started playing good now so he will be 3C. Put him inbetween nichuskin and kaut and you've got a solid 2way line.

Yet Eichel isn’t deserving of Laffy in BUF trades. Get real Lafrienere might be the only player the Avs would be willing to part with Newhook for.

Makar isn’t doing 8x8 that’s just fan talk, on an 8 yr deal $10M is probably not an unreasonable ask by his camp. And trading Kadri, Burakovsky, Graves AND a 1st for 2 wingers is epically bad asset management. What are Guentzel and Buch numbers going to look like with significantly reduced power play time? And Stastny just isn’t a good fit for what they want to do and Tyson Jost is a much more affordable option at 3C.

That’s some wishful thinking that COL would just tack on Timmins or Jost for Compher. He hasn’t had a good year but regardless of what people on CF want to say he isn’t a cap dump.

Thats fair, but buch is coming off a season where hes gone from A PK forward to THE PK forward for the rangers, and hes been a PPG for the whole season up until recently while being on the 2nd PP unit all year barring injury/covid, and he drives play better than anyone on the team that isn't panarin, his value is at an all time high

His point totals seem low but his pace of points per 82 gamea has gone up every season, 48 in 17-18, 49 in 18-19, 55 in 19-20 and now a breakout season of 73 while having been our 2nd best forward from start to finish of the season (1st if you hold panarins games missed against him), hes also capable of being a 1st unit PK forward and doesn't need to be on the 1st PP unit to produce as hes an excellent play driver, so yes hes worth a lot

Its like asking for Kakko or someone like K'Andre Miller (not sure how good he season has been) for Burakovsky. Good players but 1 year way from UFA and will cost a boat load to re-up.
Teams wont be able to ask for that type of ELC return of those high end young players. End of the day Buch and Bura level guys are supplementary to the core players, not core guys

Well you can't say he'll expensive, because hes earned it no matter where he goes, and at some point its unwise to target someone like that, because buch is a core player

Also K'andre has been good (when he doesn't have to play above his role)

Except that he isn’t. He makes DET better and is better than half the forwards on their current roster, though that’s more a testament to their lack of talent then an endorsement of him. That all being said the above trade is an easy no for DET.

More than half is way off, like not even close to real. He's a cap dump at 3.5. panik is a cap dump at 2.75 and he's better

Compher is better than Gagner, Filippula, Glendening, Svechnikov, Helm. Nielsen, Panik, and he is every bit as good as Namestikov and Fabri producing in the same range with less time but yeah his contract is detriment there. He’s having a career worst year point wise but he has the ability to play all the forward spots, special teams and has a knack for scoring big time goals (see last night). I’m not arguing that DET should trade for him I’m just saying he is significantly better than what you are giving him credit for.

He's barely a 4th liner, I rather have fabbri, svechnikov, panik, gagner, lgd and namenstinkov over him without even thinking about it. No way I'd he better then fabbri that's bad news.

Barely a 4th liner based on what? Career .39ppg is more than Svechnikov, Panik, on par with Namestikov and he’s producing his level playing 3 minutes less a game than Fabbri and Gagner is over the hill. Everybody is entitled to their opinion but come on man a 25yr old forward that averages 30pts a season plays special teams and all 3 forward spots is not “barely a 4th liner” by any definition. Throw in how much better he defensively is and it’s just in all honesty a silly assessment. You don’t like him fine I understand but let’s be objective if we are trying to give an analysis. That’s my take thanks for going back and forth with me!
