Just gonna say this again. I think getting Eichel makes the Wild worse.

Get real Jack Eichel > > > Ryan Strome Boldy and the 3 1st round picks are the only decent pieces. Rask cap dump Regula career AHLer Yeah this should get Keyven Adams attention. Any deal of Jack Eichel going to the Wild starts with Marco Rossi and then some.

I would have done Rossi over Boldy but I had gotten the impression from a lot of people on here that Rossi's health concerns aren't worth it.

1) that’s a giant package for Eichel in my opinion. I think folks on this site tend to overvalue and in real life no GM will give up all that. But that’s my opinion.

2) idk if Hawks want or need Dumba. Regula is 6’4” 210 and only 20 years old. He may not be an NHL player next year but if this guy spends a few years in AHL and learning how to use his body he can be legit. He was a point per game D man for London in OHL. Not sure why Yzerman gave him to the Hawks.

That’s a terribly package for eichel. His value (sorry any sabres fans) is at an all time low. He’s coming off an injury riddles season and clearly disgruntled with the organization. The sabres have little leverage, not that eichel holds all the cards, but his recent injury history hurts his value. There will be no 4 1sts or anything. With the 10m cap hit in the flat cap world and injury history you’re looking at a 1st a blue chip prospect and a solid nhl caliber player. That being said, you’ll probably need to take back a bad contract and get another 2nd thrown in.

With the Chicago trade above in mind that would look like strome, dumba, rossi 1st and maybe rask for cap balancing. But not gonna get much more than that truthfully. I know it hurts to think about but the teams at a position of weakness and eichel’s value has never been lower between that cap and injuries so..... yea the above is a gross overpayment.

I mean the deal is clearly Strome, Boldy and 3 1sts for Eichel. Regula is probably neither here nor there, but I wouldn't say career AHLer for a dude that's 20 years old. The Rask inclusion is just to make it work for both sides. There's going to need to be some of that with a blockbuster like this. From Buffalo's perspective it's weighing Strome, Boldy and 3 1sts against competing offers. Rags, Kings and CBJ would all probably put together a package that's better, but I don't think OP's offer gets laughed at by GMs and really isn't that ridiculous.

Why? Rossi is currently seen to have much lower value because of his issues with Covid. He's going to be fine long term, but that's the overarching perception.

Furthermore, as strange as this sounds, Sabers do not need Rossi coming back in the trade. They are in line for one of Wright, Lambert, or Savoie in 2022 if Eichel is moved. And they already have Cozens for their 2C needs already.

It's therefore smarter to ask for Boldy, not Rossi, in any return.

This is less about getting max value back for any potential Eichel return, because to be blunt, you won't get it. It's more about getting as many pieces back that help to speed up any potential rebuild, and not overstocking at a certain position just because that's the top prospect the other team has.

This isn't the draft where going bpa is more of a necessity, it's entirely different because it's about overall fit. Which is something teams who load up on talent often ignore and why rebuilds either take so long or fail out right.

Case and point...
Edmonton
Toronto
Vancouver
Buffalo

Whereas teams that pay attention to fit and bring in the right talent can speed up any potential rebuild considerably.

Detroit
Ottawa
Chicago

Look, I'm not saying that the above pakage works, because it doesn't, but that's not my point. Rossi doesn't make much sense for Buffalo, Boldy however does.
