It wont cost a 1st to dump Erickson if Vancouver chooses to go that route

Cap space ain’t free and Neal has two more years

Could easily navigate around it for another year then will take much less to move him next offseason. There is no pressure to remove his cap hit right now.

Can navigate around the cap hit for one more year then when he only has one year remaining there will be plenty more options for much less.

It’s gunna be tough with petty and Hughes needing new contracts and then you have 3/4ths of a team

Lol my b, yeah Edmonton could probably do without but the extra space to sign a free agent would be nice

He's been in Buffalo 8 years and hasn't really been good in any. At a certain point it falls on the player.

I will explain Risto to people who don't know - He's a carved 6,4 225, he can skate, he can stick handle, he can pass, he has a very hard shot, he can stand in front of the net for you, he can clear the front of the net for you, he can take a check like a brick wall, he knocks people down when he hits them - all that he can do - unfortunately a couple times a game more or less he goes into fog or a trance or has a brain fart and it's like he forgets he's playing hockey - it's like a little leaguer who' watching birds in the outfield - it's very frustrating because it's all mental, ADHD maybe - I blame an ex-sabre who as the story goes Risto as a rookie squirted him with some water and ran, well the guy caught Risto and put him in a sleeper hold for a couple minutes until another player said hey your going to kill him at which time he let go the unconscious Risto fall to the floor.

So like I said he just needs a defensive minded partner who can cover those brain farts

Toronto paid a 1st because it was a full $6million in cash and the deal was for Carolina to buyout Marleau which meant TWO years of money on the cap

Oilers already said that they won't trade a 1st to free up space, Neal's buyout is 1.9 mil and he's been playing well lately. I don't see that happening.

Once both Kane and Toews retire the Hawks are 100% heading for a rebuild hence why they went with younger Goalies then resign Corey Crawford. So noway Reinhart signs long term with Chicago. Even Kane and Toews know's that Bowman is heading towards a rebuild here shortly.

what full rebuild are you talking about?
they have Dach, DeBrincat, Kubi, Mitchell, Boqvist just to name a few. They aren't going to do a full rebuild.
If they were, why wait 2 more years? Why not do it now and trade Kane for a kings ransom, he's still at the top of his game.
Hawks are 100% not doing a full rebuild.

Staal cost a 2nd @1x 5.7m, yet he was very serviceable, so really it's only 3m ish cap dump. Loui is a 5-6m dump

What about Eriksson/2nd to Peg for Luke Green or Skyler McKenzie? Zero retention

Oilers not giving up a 1st just to get rid of Neal. He can be bought out quite easily in the off season and it would be far less painful
