Yeah, these new news reports about his surgery options really don't bolster his value at this moment.

    (1) No team will trade for him until he is healthy and passes a physical (2) The Sabres need to trade him before their window to do so closes (3) The moment he requests a trade, his trade value will be related to if he indicates teams he would prefer.

Kings have center depth to be fine without Eichel, but they are one of the few teams who can afford him, this is not a situation or time where you will get the best value for trading him.

Before today, I would have been willing to give up a package like this. Now, I'd offer Kupari, Clague, and a 1st. More than that and Buffalo can keep him.

Not going to low ball Buffalo. We'd rather he rots in the KHL

This is a guy who is injured and being barred from surgery, no matter how you try and spin that, it doesn't add to his value. I think the Sabres won't get a fair offer this post season, and I hope he comes back healthy.

This is one of the rare trades I’ve been saying I don’t want eichel. Personally I’m not touching byfield or kaliyev. Anything else is up for grabs.

I think they will because no one is getting hung up on minor surgery in the national hockey league. Nice attempt but their is no excuse for a low ball offer

I don’t like it, but sure. I really do like Kupari though. The untouchables I would hope for is byfield, kaliyev, vilardi, and Kupari. That’s just me though. I like faber too.

Man if eichel is traded I’m scared what the kings would do. If they go after him cause I’d rather they stay the course

The Kings are one of the few teams that can have untouchables and still make a decent attempt

It's less to do with the injury and more to do with his unhappiness regarding his surgery options and communication with the team, Eichel is getting to a boiling point with management, and basically said he's ready to play hockey somewhere else. The issue isn't low balling because of his injury but because he is close to requesting a trade, and if the Kings aren't on his unofficial list of teams he'd prefer to go to (which is fair, we are still rebuilding), we aren't interested in moving a top asset for a guy who will just request a trade when he gets here. On top of that, we have a player coming off his worst year, who is injured, and unhappy AGAIN with his organization. You saying that impacts his value in no way whatsoever is crazy.

I should also be clear I'm not a fan of making an offer for Eichel, I think the Kings are fine without Eichel (even though we are the ideal trading partner for Buffalo), and assets like the ones you listed above should be used to obtain a top defenseman. This echos what management has been publically saying they are looking for. And yes, Blake inquired on Eichel, he would be foolish not to look into an all-star who is unhappy with his team.
