Description
Jack Eichel "I've been a bit upset about the ways things have been handled since I've been hurt. There's been a bit of a disconnect between myself and the organization. The most important thing now is to get healthy and be ready to play hockey next year, wherever that might be" - Greg Wyshynski

I think he's done with Buffalo.
Transactions
1.
BUF
I think he'll be a Ranger. Dolan will force the Rangers to overpay for EIchel
    2.
    BUF
My second guess is LA. Byfield or Turcotte would be the main piece going back. But I don't think they'll be as aggressive as the Rangers
      LAK
      3.
      BUF
Third guess is the Wild. The Sabres might want to reunite Rossi and Quinn and the Wild have pieces to get Eichel

        BUF
My dark horse team to get Eichel is the Golden Knights. If they can trade MAF, they could afford EIchel.

Probably and then win the cup. Disgruntled sabres lead to cups in other teams, O'Reilly- Bogosian.. probably someone this year as well

VGK seems to be a team that could make it work. Here's what would have to happen:

Vegas needs to clear cap. Wanted to trade MAF last off-season but couldn't because they refused to retain. MAF won't play for Buffalo (I'm guessing). Buffalo needs to get something good in return.

Buffalo agrees to retain half of Fleury's contract and trade him to a team he desires. In order to pull this off, they need great assets.

VGK gives: Tuch (cap), Glass (seems to have fallen out of favor), MAF, 2021 1st, 2022 1st, McNabb
Buf then trades a 50% MAF and maybe another player (Thompson) for another 1st and low prospect (or cap) to a team like Philly, Pitts, or someone in contention.

Well, he couldn't beat those other 2...and then screwed himself over and it will be interesting to see if he's back next year

FWIW, Dave McCarthy was just on NHL Radio saying that New York is the most likely destination for Eichel, but that Buffalo isn't trading from a position of strength. He thinks that NY shouldn't trade Lafreniere or Kakko and that a package should instead be built around Kravtsov.

If this is the best offer the Sabres get for Eichel, I don't think he's gonna be leaving

Eichel is exactly what we need but I have a feeling the price will be way higher than what we're willing to give up and another team will outbid us.

This is going to pretty much go nowhere because it's been discussed to adseum

Not saying it's the best, but also don't know of any team who is willing to take on 10mil in cap. That's the issue. Vegas doesn't care about taking a 10 mil player as long as they get someone who's worth it. Also worth noting, a top 6 forward locked in for term, a young center who was a former 1st rounder, a top 4 dman, and 3 first round picks on top of it is nothing to sneeze at. It's not an elite package, but it's not a terrible one.

This is what I think should happen

FIrst, Vegas trades MAF to Edmonton, 25% for a 1st. Fleury has regained his value after this season. He should fetch around a 1st round pick

Then, trade Krebs, Glass, 3 first round picks for Eichel.

A lot has changed between last summer and now, and after Eichel's statements this morning, teams aren't going to be lining up to throw overwhelming packages at Buffalo. The return is going to be significantly less than what has been suggested around these parts.

This is what I think should happen

FIrst, Vegas trades MAF to Edmonton, 25% for a 1st. Fleury has regained his value after this season. He should fetch around a 1st round pick

Then, trade Krebs, Glass, 3 first round picks for Eichel.

Vegas won't trade two ELC for Eichel. They'll want to trade other salary. Tuch is a prime candidate.

Agreed. What would do you give up for Eichel?

Something like Rossi, Dumba, and our two 1sts this year. Might not be enough though and I don't think Dumba really fits Buffalo's needs.

I would switch out Rossi for Boldy and add on Khovanov for good measure.

          1) I would rather hold on to Rossi, as he would be a necessary piece to keep for our top six as our future 2nd line center behind Eichel. His value is also lower due to the concerns about aftereffects of Covid, even if he’s likely to be fine long term.

          2) Boldy strikes me as a Mikko Rantanen/Brett Hull type of player. He's going to be a stud, if he isn't one already. But ultimately, he's the more easily replaceable prospect of the two.

Khovanov is expendable by virtue of Rossi, but is still a center prospect with top six potential and fits the bill of what would meet Buffalo's criteria and needs.

          3) Sabers don't need Rossi back in the trade by virtue of the fact they'll be in the running for one of Wright, Lambert, or Savoie sweepstakes in 2022. Boldy therefore is the smarter ask in any potential Eichel trade to Minnesota scenario.

But that's just my .02 cents.
