because this isnt basketball where 1 guy can carry you to a title
Not accounting for the guy in second league scoring or smith who should be in consideration for vezina or nurse who should be in the Norris conversation. Just because it’s one guy doing the incredible doesn’t mean he’s the only one pulling the cart.

The Oilers are built like an AHL team outside of McDavid and Draisaitl. I don't think anyone is fantasizing about having Smith or Nurse on their team. Conversations for trophies mean nothing, unless you win it. Also, the depth that the Oilers have won't be able to get past the Jets, Habs, or Leafs. The Oilers are playing a lot of no names on their top 6, and a bunch of AHLers/4th liners all over the lines. The Oilers d-core won't be able hold against a grinding style of play like the Habs, especially when having Tyson Barrie on your top 4, who will take you no where. Where credit is due, he is a good regular season player, but there is a reason why he was a #6 defensemen for the Avalanche and the Leafs during the playoffs

if you remove the best player from all of these teams the oilers are in the worst spot by a good margin

But right now he’s healthy so saying that just seems like stretching to find reasons to be down on Edmonton. Even without him which is foolish to even entertain they still have Leon who is second in the league by a considerable margin and have a Norris candidate and the best starter currently in the north.

Name one ahler that plays regularly in Edmonton? Mcloed just got called up from the ahl where he was clearly dominate at that level. No names in the top six? Nuge jp yam you can’t follow hockey if think those are no name players.... d core won’t hold up against a grind style? Pretty sure nurse and larsson will have no issue with that bear isn’t afraid to throw his body around either. It’s like your looking at Barrie and judging the entire d core based on him so what if he gets bumped down to bottom pair for playoffs bear has been playing very smart and can hold his own in barries regular spot.

yes for sure, my point was more directed to the supporting cast around him and for the depth which isnt very good, and yes hes second in points, theres minimum 3 guys ahead of nurse so hes not really a norris candidate considering theres 3 nominees.

We will wait and see my guess nurse finishes second in voting behind only Hedman. Easily been the best in the north division

I can name many AHL players. Haas, Shore, Khaira, Chaisson, Archibald, Kahun, and there is a lot more. All of these players would be on the Leafs AHL team
