Now that's an offer for Cernak! So I applaud you there.
But if we get rid of Cernak our biggest need is a RHD who can eat minutes.

Cernak isn't going anywhere, And Johnson isn't waiving from a cup contender to a Non-Playoff team.

The price for taking Johnson is Cernak. I have no interest in giving up a 1st round pick too especially 5OA

I mean, I realize that you guys require an overpay... but you shouldn't require a fleecing.

I am VERY confident in saying any of the defensemen available at 5 will far and away be better than Cernak. It's stupid of Vancouver to consider moving their pick for a guy that doesn't define a franchise.

I know there's a heck of a lot of short sells on this website that drive TB fans nuts, but even the diehard Lightning fans know that this is a fleecing and a half.

No way, gosh Vancouver better say No when they hear they're taking both the dump and giving away a top 5 pick for someone who isn't even elite.

If Fans found out that JBB declined this trade, he'd be at the bottom of people's "best gm" list pretty darn quick. You don't turn down fleecings for players who aren't untouchable.

For sure it's a fleece, but that's what I like to see wink

Still, the important point is 5OA is not helpful to Tampa right now. Cernak is. JBB is not Jerry Krause.

I can get behind that, but lots of times as soon as these teams in competition get picks, they are moved out as fast as they come in. Vegas has done this loads, moving out guys who are good for picks, then flipping the picks for a more pressing need or an upgrade.

I don't think Cernak is close to Pulock, Pesce, Weegar or Ellis, which are the type of guys that I think more define this package here. I think Cernak is more of a Matt Roy than one of those super high end top 3 guys.

I think that's a fair assessment of Cernak, but I think he works well in our system. Also, I don't think Tampa will become a high player turnover team, like Vegas, under current ownership/management.

This is pretty accurate. I think you nailed it. Thing about Cernak is he's the only decent yound RHD. Foote is very much a work in progress and everyone else is kind support pieces. Cernak is a unique player in Tampa lineup and something Tampa has needed for a very long time, so every Tampa fan will push back on the idea of moving him "he's untouchable etc"

However, like with every deal Vancouver that comes up I'll ask, what do we need to do to add Jett Woo. I want a "Woo" bolts Jersey so bad.

No way the Canucks do that deal. Ferland is really a nothing cap hit for any team as long as he stays on LTIR. As you suggest Holtby is a 500,000. Canucks would rather have that buyout than Johnson at 5m for three more years. Cernak is nice but Canucks don't trade the 5th overalll for him.
