There HAS to be some sort of restriciton against choosing those guys.

Matthews is in the playoffs. Unless you want him stripped from your team to go play for USA, then he is not eligible.

NHL players don't want to play more games, most of the were playing banged up and the schedule put a strain on them, they want their break

Players are allowed to choose whether to go or not. It’s not like USA hockey thinks this is the best team they could have. And honestly, unless you’re a fringe player with something to prove, why on earth would you want to go there right now?

F*ck my life. It's clear as day that you should fire your coach after you failed to make the playoffs after getting to the cup finals, also he has a career record of 166-321-48-22 which is terrible. He also plays Blake Comeau 16 minutes a night. There is no reason at all why they should keep him.
