No thanks, we will keep Nylander and save a million in cap space.

Think I’d rather have soft Nylander than whining Laine.

Also what has Laine done to warrant an 8 Mil contract?

lol, soft. Dude scores most of his goals from the front of the net, takes more hits than pretty much everyone on the team year in and year out and is in traffic constantly.
If Nylander is soft, then 4/5ths of the league is soft.

The Leafs will keep the cheaper, significantly better defensively player who has more goals the last two seasons than the guy whose only elite skill is scoring goals.

Laine has a very good shot and I think he'd do well with Tavares setting him up.

He'd also improve the power play significantly.

that's literally all he has though. He's a mediocre play maker, middling play driver and just awful defensively. An absolute negative return.

Lol. Oh my not this net play argument again about Nylander. Watch the games not the stats. Most of his goals from around the net are rebounds from hanging around the perimeter. Guy literally gets a lucky tip in once a year. I would win a puck battle against him on the boards and I didn’t even make Junior C.

nah, see i did watch the games, and most of his goals came from rebounds that he was able to get because he was....hanging around the net! if he was on the perimiter than he wouldnt be able to get the rebounds near as well. But then i watch the games so i'd know that.

Man, I'm sorry, but you are way, way off on this. Nylander led the league in net-front goals last year and not for the reason you say. He got the vast majority of those goals by parking his ass in front of the net or by taking the puck there himself.

Nylander has shown it all boils down to effort with him. When he played with Matthews he appeared to only do one thing - look for Matthews stick regardless of opportunity in front of him. It seems he has upped his aggression and his hockey iq by jumping on rebounds more often. I strongly believe this is due to his play with Tavares and nothing else.

Agree to disagree guys. I see a soft player with a high hockey IQ as you say @tohnjavares but nothing more. All things aside I would still take him any day over Laine.

Laine’s value is more than Nylander because he has 50 goal ability. Love him hate him that’s what he has and in the NHL that’s worth a lot.

Trade one fairly bad defensive forward for an even worse defensive forward to add scoring that we already have. Genius
