I agree. Total overpay for Pettersson too. I would say Mete is closer to Pettersson one on one. I'm not a fan of making more than minor moves this summer

One of Tierney or White needs to go. Abramov needs to come up full time on that 4th line. I’d be interested in signing someone for that top 6 tho short term

I don't think Ottawa should do Pettersson for White one for one. Adding Mete and 2nd is insanely bad for Ottawa. Mete has been very good for OTT, and should be their 3LD heading into next season.

No way is Brady getting anywhere even slightly close to 10mil. I LOVE Brady, what he hasn't done anything to earn that kind of deal. Even if you need to overpay for what you think he will grow into over the course of the 8 year deal, there's no way he should get more than 8mil. He brings a lot to the table besides points (always at the top of the league in hits, shots and things like expected goals), but his production has been pretty steady at roughly a 25G 50P pace over a full 82 games. Now I think that will take a huge spike over the next few years, and he'll be worth More than an 8×8 contract, but that doesn't mean he's earned more than an 8×8 contract.

1. Philly defintely accepts lol... they have trying to rid of Gost for a while... he even cleared waivers lol... and they need a RD... I'm not sure Ott accepts this one..

2. Petersson is a great value contract in the NHL right now. Might be a slight overpay but I beleive it is worth it. Perfect LD to pair with Branny and finally allow him to move to RD.

3. If we want Seattle to grab Dadonov, we must trade Daccord and brown. Blues glady take them as they need a backup and Brown is from St-Louis. Dorion is manages to get a good 4th liner and a pick out of the trade, which isn't too bad!

4. Tkachuk is sneaky for valuable. Should be 1st player ever to be top 2 in shots and hits in a season and brings very valuable leadership qualities. I see a habs AGM try to pull the AHO contract. If I am Dorion and Melnyk, that scares the **** out of me. I prefer to sign him to 8x10 and structure the contract as I please rather than owe him 21Mil in a year span... and take the opportunity to put the C on him.

I kind of think Both will be gone. I think one goes to Seattle (probably Tierney) and one is traded. Neither one is the 2C they want/need, and while I like White a lot, he's going to be passed by Pinto. If Dadonov wasn't here I'd say keep White and convert him to a full time winger (where I think he's a much better fit), the lack of room really makes him difficult to keep. No sense in keeping him on the 4th line.

Abramov is not a 4th line player.

Uhh no. The Blues are not doing that. Being from STL doesn't help Brown skate at an NHL level and they aren't trading for a thoroughly meh goalie.

I was watching the Montreal game highlights again and I noticed I saw a shift of Formenton-Norris-Batherson just like they played in Belleville. You think that would stick? Even though, Tkachuk and Norris are very good together

As much as I love Formenton, I'd need to see more from him offensively before I'd be comfortable projecting him as a top 6 forward. Would also sort of depend on Stützle shifting to C at some point, which I'm starting to think isn't in the plans. I think he'd be perfectly capable of filling in as a top six guy in the event of an injury. I having Formenton and Connor Brown together on the 3rd line is so strong I don't know that you want to mess with that, especially as Pinto grows in confidence as a 3rd line C.

trading for lesser players when you have better ones in the system to accelerate a rebuild will ALWAYS lead to disaster, OTT should do NOTHING in the off season UFA wise, look at how well OTT been playing since the trade deadline after getting rid of their pylons.

Would u trade White and our 2021 1st for Laine ? If that’s all it takes?

Colin White: 43 GP: 10G, 18P

Patrik Laine (with CBJ): 43 GP: 10g, 18P

But for real though, I don't think Laine is the piece Ottawa needs. He's an elite shooter, but he doesn't make his team better beyond his ability to score goals. He's not a guy I'm trading the 2021 1st for. I think Ottawa would be better served drafting a winger like Eklund or Lysell. They won't help right away, but long term I like the fit far better. I think CBJ would be a good fit for White though.

I think the best case scenario for Ottawa this off season would be to add a 2C, add a short term RD and draft an RW with our pick. There aren't many C who will be available that I would give up our 1st for, so I think they should absolutely keep it.

I agree - I just still have faith in White's ability to be a two-way 3C, as much as his contract is an overpay. He was pinged around the lineup under DJ for awhile and I think he's way better than Tierney. Tierney's contract and past success also makes him an easier trade piece.

As for Top-6, I can see the appeal, but part of the reason I'm spooked by signing anyone to anything more than two years is finding room for Stützle, Formenton, Brännström, Paul, and Norris, who will all need new contracts in the next two years (and I want all of them!)
