The Bruins keep the pick MIN used to select Kaprizov and I can 100% guarantee you they don't take him. Bruins took 2 Russians (one never came to NA) from the 2007-2017 drafts and they would probably have turned him into a two-way 3rd liner rather than elite player. So Smith. Should have proposed Rinaldo or Seguin.

Smith is actually sneaky bad. Marchessault and Karlsson made him look good, more than he himself did. Kaprizov is good and exciting, but he's not really outshooting his opponents. Hopefully for him his shooting effects stay off the charts.

Yeah, but this is also really dumb. Imagine ignoring the worlds 4th or whatever largest hockey player market cause of some arbitrary strategy or a few bad experiences. We can still say they should've kept the pick, picked Kaprizov and done sort of what Minnesota did, if not sign him earlier.

They would probably have drafted a future career AHLer with the pick. If it was round 1 or 2, yes. But after that, you have like 10/350 chance to get a star.

I'm not saying I wouldn't have taken Kaprizov, I'm saying the Bruins wouldn't have selected him.

Yup, I doubt Kaprizov was on their draft list. BOS and Russian's have never really worked out in recent history.

I actually agree with the comments above-

Even if the Bruins got that pick back, I still don't think they take Kaprizov. Bruins + Russian players don't really mix for some odd reason. There just hasn't been a Russian foundation in Boston for years. Last Russian I can remember is Anton Khudobin, but before that: Alex Khoklachev. And before that? No idea, that's how long it's been. There also isn't any strong Swedish foundation...I do wonder if it has to with the scouts not liking what they see? Is there more trust with the North American and Czech scouts? No clue

Bruins love the Americans, Czechs, Canadians, and Finns (sorta)!

I wonder why the Bruins have never invested into a Russian foundation. Same thing for Swedes. Maybe it's because they prefer not to travel too far, to keep an eye on their prospects? Bruins favor the USA prospects so maybe their thought process is that the less travel= more information you can get on players

As a Wild fan, the fact the pick used to select Kaprizov came from another team makes trading Tampa the pick they used to select Point a little easier to cope with.

Game seven(s) right? Don't fret. Like I tell my youngest son who went to bed crying one of those nights, the Leafs time (and yours) is coming soon.

Not just Game 7's. The Rask for Raycroft trade really hurts. The fact that Marchand is a very dirty player. The fact that the leafs are too soft. Lots of things

These too shall pass. Rask will retire eventually. Marchand has toned it down quite a bit. The Leafs are definitely tougher and more determined this year than in the past. The glory is in the grind and reaching the mountain top.
