If Seth Jarvis Wins a Spot in Camp

Description
Note: Sandin is not a serious ask. It can be negotiated downward. Any potential Nino trade package, however, would likely revolve around defensive prospects, as it is the one weakness in our system right now.

Fair. It's just a guess as to where these guys will go. Looking at the roster, both seem like good fits for the Oil. I think that you guys would really like both guys, particularly McGinn. Link: https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2377259

I know it's a reach, LOL, but any potential deal with Nino likely involves a defensive prospect. Talk about Sandin, settle for Liljegren or a package of a couple of guys like, say, Niemela and Koster.

I like Niederreiter, but the ask of Sandin, as well as a $6m cap hit, lead me to say 'Hell no'.

I don’t see a spot for them with oilers next year nothing against them both are useful players and selling rights for very cheap be great for someone

LOL, don't take the Sandin ask too seriously. It's just a high proposed asking price to negotiate about. I was actually thinking about Liljegren as the guy that the Leafs and Canes would eventually agree on. If part of a larger package, Niemela interests me, as well.

Also, Nino's current hit is $5.25M/year and (when playing like this) well worth it. $6M is only a $750K increase from that.

I would take a package of Niemela and Koster over Sandin.
People will disagree, but Koster is one of the more underrated prospects out there. Doesn’t matter if he was 5’7” in his draft year. He will run an NHL pp someday.

      Just my two cents.

Those guys are much more agreeable, lol (though I personally am in love with Niemela).

I'm aware of Nino's cap situation, and while I do think $6m is an overpayment, it's a moot point anyways because it's not a matter of pocket change for the Leafs. It would be very difficult to fit him under the cap without a significant discount or moving out a major roster player. Would be cool to have him, but I don't think it's in the cards.

I like Nino but meh I dont see how we can make it work

we got some big names to resign (Hyman, Rielly, Sandin, etc)

In general Leafs have so many forwards including prospects that I dont see them adding anymore

like next year the only thing I could see happen is Bozak returning just to be a filler until, Steeves, Abramov or whoever is ready to take over at 3c spot

All of the prospects you mentioned are highly valued by the Leafs.

Nino has been a under 40 point player per year for the last 5 seasons.
      Dont see that changing.

I dont think he has this kind of value and 6 million AAV, hell no.

Leafs don't need Niederreiter or a top 6 forward that cost that much next season (in terms of trade value or contract). They'll re-sign Hyman for one of the spots and either bring back Galchenyuk or someone else on a lower end deal until Robertson is ready. They're not throwing their top prospect/young player for a middle 6 winger. Toronto wouldn't move any of those defensive prospects for a winger. You're best to just try a different team. Toronto and Carolina don't match up well for a deal like that

I thought of the Nino deal as good option in the possibility that Hyman walks, actually. And remember, Nino's current cap hit is $5.25M, and his current play, at least IMO, warrants a small raise in the UFA market.

Hyman loves it in Toronto. Grew up a life long Leaf fan. Leafs management loves him, teammates love him. He was Dubas' first trade. I wouldn't be shocked if they already have a handshake agreement done but are waiting for the expansion draft to be over before they announce it.

Bottom line: Hyman's 99% not going anywhere

Um, Nino had 53 points in the 2018-2019 season...What do you even mean? LOL.

Also, Nino won't be dealt if Jarvis isn't NHL-ready next season (and he likely won't be). We have the cap space to keep him.

Don’t see Holland adding much to bottom six from outside organization maybe a right handed centre.
