Fair. I dont know their lines, but that sounds good. I think danault might sign that to get a chance at a cup, and Wennberg and Montour have a small chance to resign if they don't win the cup this year. the 1 year deals were the reason i thought they might sign.

So your assuming this trade goes down with the Panthers picking up that SB? Which is odd considering it’s a 2021 pick meaning it would have to be done at the draft table and not FA. Either way it’s a ~40% increase (Delta) and 1.3M if picked up or 2.3M if not. So not exactly chump change considering Detroit bought out Gator for a 1.8M savings prolonging the cap.

But at the time of the Staal trade Detroit only had 2 LDs and some prospects. With Hronek, Stecher and Seider they don't have a need for Strålman plus Detroit didn't have to give up any picks for Staal.
