Lundell dominant 2 way center, faceoff man, NHL ready (maybe even top 6 already at 19), underrated goalscorer and large offensive and defensive upside
Laine has scored a lot of goals before, but not this year, i am pretty sure that lundell will be a better player in his prime

CBJ is looking for a centre but who knows if they will go with a full on rebuild. If they want to reload on the fly instead of rebuild then I doubt they go for it.

In terms of Laine, his QO is $7.5 million.

That's the kind of risk one takes when one trades an established player for a prospect. If Zito thinks Florida is a back-to-form Laine away from Cup contention (and Bennett continues to be the #2C so many had given up on him ever being), I could see that working out very well for both sides. If either of those come up short, it's probably not a good idea for the Panthers.

I definitely think Lundy will be a quality 1st line nhl center with the full magilla: positive Corsi, superb scoring, sound defensively, other things, etc. but

I thought similar things about Yakupov etc.

Yeah I have noticed recently watching the Liiga playoffs that Lundell looks kinda **** rn, very frustrated

Kinda self explanatory isn’t it? Laine has a higher ceiling than Lundell. He has way more talent and has proven he can score 40+ goals. The first is going the wrong way

But this year he has scored 10
Plus Lundell was PPG in finnish league, 16 goals in 26 games, very sound defensive / positional player, good at screening the goalie, plays the perimeter and in the crease, just much more versatile, plus he is a center who is good at faceoffs
Laine is not the completely one dimensional player that some see him as (only score goals), but i would probably rather have a player like lundell especially if he pans out to the 1c projection he has had lately

Only reason I would be willing to trade him for laine is because he is not proven yet

I think the base is fair, but Laine has more value at the moment.

Laine and a 1st for Lundell CBJ should decline easily.

IMO, here's a few reasons why this isn't a good idea for either side:
1)It would be a huge loss for Columbus, and a way-too-early rightoff of Laine. Basically means that they've traded a 2021 1st (Late)+PLD+Laine for Roslo/Lundell.
2)The pick would be going the other way. Yes, Lundell does have solid upside, but saying "He's a PPG player in the Finnish league" as a comparison isn't a great gauge of a future superstar. Using the equivalency rating, that would peg Lundell for 36 pts over a full season. Not great, but also not bad as a rookie. Laine, in a very, very bad season, on a very, very bad team is on pace for 40, he's also taking far less shots than he'd typically average.
3) For Florida, this would most likely put some serious handcuffs on re-signing Barkov, and then Hubby the following offseason. Laine's QO is $7.5 mil.
4) There's no denying that Lundell is an excellent prospect, but Florida is going to need that depth coming up the middle.
5) Columbus needs to replace their coach. Find someone who jives with Laine, and see if you can get him somewhere close to the ceiling that he has.
