If the trade did somehow happen you could save yourself some cap space by signing Bert for less. He's a great addition to any team but 5.4 is a huge overpay

Detroit passes, Kempny is freaking 30 years old and doesn't fit our rebuild timeline. Just look at the Mantha for Vrana deal Detroit got a younger similar player in Vrana for Mantha. Bertuzzi is 26 years old and just coming into his prime before he got injured he had 7 points in 9 games he was our hottest player up to his injury. We need back a similar younger player like Bertuzz Kempny would be on our bottom pairing no thanks. If Yzerman deals Bertuzzi it's for player that fits our young core not an aging one.

Agreed, Bertuzzi is basically a solid 3rd line winger on most playoff teams, He's only getting top 6 minutes in Detroit because of our lack of scoring depth. A fair contract for Bertuzzi is 4 or 5 years in the $4,500,000 to $4,750,000 range after his current injury which looks to be back related i doubt he gets more then that.

What? Bertuzzi is a solid middle six player and has certain skills teams covet. Tough, works the corners, tries every shift. He had 7 points in the Wings first games, until he got hurt. Overrated maybe but there is a lot of other players more overacted than Bertuzzi.

The biggest question is, are you confusing Tyler with Todd. Goon where in the hell do you get that opinion? He has had what only 1 five minute penalty outside of a fight, and that was a slash several years ago. So I ask where do you get goon from? He is no ballerina, but he plays hard, not dirty.
