For reference for those who might not know why those proposals are ornerous:
Kerfoot anything: Kerfoot doesn't add to what we already have, and his contract is both a tad large AND extends into the 2022 offseason wherein we'd be trying to retain guys like Jones, Werenski, Roslovic, Laine, one or both of the goaltenders, et cetera. (That's a recurring theme in many rejected returns, incidentally). He just came up because of sheer persistence by some Leafs fans; it's calmed down now that the deadline has passed, but the objections still exist.
Risto-for-Domi: Yes, RD is going to be a need. But C is an even bigger need, and weakening it to try to patch RD is not a wise move. There do exist scenarios in which this is a little more palatable (say, if we get that defensive- top-6 C we need by other means first and strike out on any other RD patching possibilities), but they're not commonplace, and so the repeated presumption that this is an automatic no-issues proposal gets really old really fast.
Koskinen/Jones for a goaltender: This pushes two buttons. The idea that we need or want a returning goaltender when we trade Korpi (we're unlikely to trade Elvis at this point) is unwelcome, as our goaltending pipeline is pretty well set. The idea that Caleb has value to us is also unwelcome - we don't need LDs and the "he'll stay for sure if his brother comes over here" theory feels less like folks trying to be helpful and more like baiting us about recent departures. Combining them just makes it worse than the sum of its parts for us. It's particularly egregiously bad when Merzlikins is requested, as he's pretty much established himself as the starter and so we're unlikely to trade him at all.
EDIT: And as for the one I was suggesting should be added...
Laine for not-a-center: No, it's not very likely we get a defensively minded top-6 center in a trade for Laine; his value on the market is pretty low given this disaster stretch. We get that. But 1) Tortorella is expected to depart at the end of this season (voluntarily), 2) we've only had him for a few months at this point and still have two years of RFA control so there's no rush, and 3) hey, he's a 30-40 goal scorer in the past, maybe that can happen again. So we're in a position where unless we end up selling him for something we need more, it makes more sense for us to try and rehab him and get him to bounce back into form while still with this team. If he feels like staying after that, he'd be a great core player, and if he doesn't want to stay, it'd improve his trade value back up to something reasonable. And if he doesn't want to stay and continues to be awful, THEN we'd consider bargain basement prices for him.
